Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov had a rivalry that will not be forgotten anytime soon. The bad blood between the pair is still very much alive even five years after this UFC 229 clash. The 34-year-old Irishman recently went on Twitter to dish out some free advice. However, he ended up taking a shot at Nurmagomedov, though there was no provocation from the undefeated Russian. So how did Khabib Nurmagomedov catch a stray bullet from Conor McGregor?

Conor McGregor voices disapproval of the betting practice

In a recent tweet, Conor McGregor strongly advocated against fighters betting their purses against each other. The former UFC double champion felt it was a hollow bet, asking if anyone had ever come through on it. He argued against fighters saying it as it never happens in reality.

‘The Notorious’ wrote, “Has any competing fighters bet their purse against each other and then followed thru? We should stop doing this. Fighting is tough. It can go anyway. Luck plays a hell of a part. Don’t be saying you are betting your fight purse against each other. Because it never happens. And it’s stupid. Train hard. Fight hard. Earn your dough. And then enjoy it. God bless.”

McGregor’s tweet seems to have come in the wake of Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis betting their fight purses on an Instagram live recently. The pair went live with streamer Kai Cenat who threw in the idea of the fighters putting their purses on the line.

But where does Khabib Nurmagomedov fit into all this?

McGregor’s jab at ‘The Eagle’

In responding to Conor McGregor’s tweet, one fan took a cheap shot at him, citing his loss to Nurmagomedov in 2018. Not one to back down, McGregor fired back in characteristic fashion.

“You still owe khabib your fight purse after that mauling,” wrote a fan.“Khabib is a fat b*tch with t*ts now, lad,” McGregor wrote back. Evidently, there is still no love lost between the pair.

In another deleted response to a fan, he claimed how he was winning the fight against Nurmagomedov in 2018 before he lost via submission. McGregor claimed he had won rounds 1 & 3 and Nurmagomedov won the second round.

He wrote, “Incorrect, uneducated dribble. I won round 1. He won round 2. I won round 3. He caught me in 4. He quit and now does crypto scams.”

What are your thoughts on McGregor’s comments? Do you agree with his advice? And do you think there will ever be peace between the MMA stalwarts?
