UFC 303 is just a few weeks away, and the fans are waiting to witness the event. However, they will have no Conor McGregor at the event after he pulled out from the clash at the last minute. The 35-year-old suffered an injury and wasn’t able to recover on time. He recently took to his Instagram account to share an emotional message for the fans, citing the reason and promising to make a comeback soon.

Though McGregor is confident of making a comeback to the Octagon, many experts, including Daniel Cormier and Ben Askren, do not echo the same sentiments as they handed a brutal reality check to ‘The Notorious’ fans.

Former UFC fighter feels Conor McGregor is done with fighting

Records suggest that Conor McGregor has rarely pulled out from any fight because of an injury. However, this time he was forced to call the fight off because of health issues. McGregor himself made it clear that the decision was taken after discussing it with his entire team. But now the fans and even Daniel Cormier want to know, is this the last of the McGregor era? In his ‘Funky and The Champ’ podcast, the former champ asked Askren to share his opinion on the whole. The former UFC fighter said, “Yeah, I have been saying it’s the end and you know he’s probably using the tactic where he keeps saying he’s going to come back.”

At 35, the Dubliner has only two fights left in his contract. But the biggest concern is whether can he recover from the injury again. Most fans would hope he does, but Askren doesn’t quite feel the same. While speaking to Cormier, he made it clear that the former champion was not going to return and advised him to take up celebrity boxing. The retired UFC fighter said, “Maybe he does something celebrity boxing match or something. Who knows if the UFC lets him? They’ll probably pissed at him after this one so they probably say like no. So yeah, I would say he’s done with serious fighting.”

Only time will tell whether Conor McGregor is done with serious fighting or not. The Dubliner has previously also recovered from setbacks because of his strong work ethic. Hopefully, he can prove his critics wrong once again and make a comeback. Amidst all the criticism ‘Mystic Mac’ has found new support from Henry Cejudo as he feels that the comeback is on.

Henry Cejudo believes Conor McGregor is taking his comeback seriously

Henry Cejudo is indeed positive about Conor McGregor making a comeback. While speaking on his ‘Pound 4 Pound’ podcast, the former Olympic champion shared his opinion on the whole. According to the 37-year-old, McGregor is serious about his comeback and wants to return fully fit. There have been instances in the past where the Dubliner has fought despite being injured. However, this time he doesn’t want to make the same mistake. Cejudo said, “McGregor has to pull out, that’s actually a really good sign, you know.”

‘Triple C’ feels McGregor will learn from this incident and will come back even stronger. McGregor injured his leg in his last outing and doesn’t want to do the same if he is not hundred percent. He further stated, “What I’m saying, what I mean by that is he’s probably killing a little bit of his ego, and now he’s taking it a lot more serious than ever. So it’s also an experience for him. So the way that I’m taking it too Kamaru, is like they’re going to fight, I think he’s at that point where I want to make sure that I’m 100%. Like this comeback to me is real.”

‘Mystic Mac’ is without a doubt one of the biggest stars the UFC has ever seen. However, it seems that the former dual champion doesn’t want to risk it again by fighting injured. His latest message on Instagram is a clear indication that he will come back stronger. But the exact timing of his return is not known yet. Do you think he will fight in 2024? Let us know in the comments below.
