Khabib Nurmagomedov recently re-ignited the Dagestan vs Ireland rivalry after claiming the Irish MMA is not on the same level as Dagestan’s. Unsurprisingly, those comments rubbed many people the wrong way, including his bitter rival Conor McGregor who lashed out at him on social. Now, the former double champion is back with yet another jibe at his arch-rival.

After Khabib Nurmagomedov claimed that Ireland doesn’t have many big-time or popular fighters, Conor McGregor proceeded to claim that Dagestani fighters don’t have any creativity inside the Octagon, pointing out their wrestling-heavy approach. But that wasn’t it for the Irish MMA icon, as he proceeded to add another insult to his former rival, whom he still has bad blood with.

“Loads of Irish fighter licking his a*** years then he says yous are all sh*te,” Conor McGregor wrote on social media“Pass it on #sada**es.” Some of Conor McGregor’s online statements after often cryptic in nature, and this one appears to be of that nature. Meanwhile, Khabib Nurmagomedov has remained silent so far and has issued no response to McGregor clapping back at him.

However, Khabib Nurmagomedov seems to be aware of the backlash from people regarding his comments about Ireland, but guess what? He isn’t apologetic about it. Rather, the 29-0 former lightweight champion doubled down on his claims in a bold statement on X. Here’s what the Dagestan native had to say about fighters from his native region.

Khabib Nurmagomedov suggests looking at facts despite backlash from Conor McGregor and others

Khabib Nurmagomedov claims that Dagestani fighters are way ahead of their Irish counterparts when it comes to amateur MMA. He even claimed that if Dagestan set up a team of fighters and put them against any other country’s team, they’d easily edge past them in competition. Additionally, Nurmagomedov also added that there are more prominent title contenders and champions in the major professional MMA promotions from Dagestan than from Ireland.

“We dominate amateur MMA, and it’s not even close—not just compared to Irish fighters but the whole world. I’m absolutely confident that if we were to organize a team vs. team matchup, Dagestan would defeat a world team in amateur MMA,” Khabib Nurmagomedov stated. “And when it comes to professional MMA, we have champions, contenders, and ranked fighters in every major league. Show me Irish fighters who are currently title contenders in the top three MMA promotions.”

While Khabib Nurmagomedov said what he said, it has taken his cousin Usman‘s rivalry against Paul Hughes to another level. The Irish up-and-comer is now looking to prove the Dagestani camp wrong and is more focused on beating the Bellator lightweight champion than winning the belt. How do you think this fight will go?
