Donald Cerrone gets candid about Conor McGregor fight
Cerrone is one of the greatest talents the sport has seen in recent times. Yet, he has never truly been able to rise to a big occasion, especially in his fight against McGregor. In an interview, he reveals that the event and magnitude of it got to him mentally. Subsequently, he was scared to make the walk and did not like being there.
He said, “I could go back to that day that I hung it out to dry, and to me that day is the Conor McGregor fight. I threw it away before I even ever walked out that door. I never wanted to talk about quitting before I even got to the arena. Yeah, he gave me an exit and I took it like I just never wanted to be there. It was the craziest thing.”
His honesty deserves praise as it is not common to see fighters get so candid about their nerves ahead of a fight. However, at the same time, he may not be at peace with this defeat and might live in regret forever.
