Conor McGregor, as the biggest star in MMA, often steals the headlines. During his active UFC days, it was those highlight-reel knockouts that grabbed attention. Now, he maintains that same traction as ‘The Notorious’ evolves into a successful business mogul and a promoter for BKFC. While the Irishman’s various personas get plenty of recognition, there’s another side of him that rarely gets seen, a generous and soft-hearted side that melts people’s hearts.

That’s exactly what happened when McGregor met a nine-year-old cancer patient named Nico last month while handling his duties as a promoter at BKFC 83: Camozzi vs. Sakara in Rome, Italy. A local media outlet, Siamofighters, uploaded the whole interaction on their Instagram page, showing the former two-weight UFC champion giving an inspirational talk to his young fan.

In the video, ‘The Notorious’ says, “Nice to meet you at first,” then poses for a photo with the young cancer patient. Before leaving, he gets faintly picked up by the mic saying, “We win, we win the fight.” But that’s not all,  Siamofighters also revealed another touching detail in their Instagram caption—they mentioned that McGregor met a 91-year-old fan on the same day.

They wrote in the captions, “Rome, October 2025 – Hilton La Lama Hotel. It’s not just fighting in the ring… every day there’s a different battle. That day, the dream of Nico, a special child and true warrior, came true: meeting his idol, Conor McGregor. A hug full of strength, hope, and inspiration. A powerful message for everyone: never stop fighting. And that’s not all… even a 91-year-old realized his dream that same day. Because passion and the desire to win are ageless.”

Conor McGregor tried to instill inspiration in the child who is battling such an unfortunate disease, one that takes so many lives. This isn’t the first time the biggest UFC star has shown generosity. McGregor has taken part in several charitable efforts. Earlier this year, he donated $10,785.55 to a GoFundMe campaign for a couple named Dean and Michaela, where Dean was fighting Stage IV cancer.

Now, after seeing ‘The Notorious’ step away from the brash persona and interact with a young cancer patient, fans can’t stop praising him for this act of kindness. Let’s take a look at how fans reacted.

Another fan followed with, “Kid is living my dream,” pointing out that the nine-year-old got to meet one of his idols, something most people only imagine. The kid truly got a moment many dream of.

Another fan mentioned that we don’t get to see this side of McGregor enough, writing, “I wish Conor would show more of this side of him.” With all the cameras always capturing ‘The Notorious’ being loud and animated, his softer side rarely gets highlighted. Also, the former champ doesn’t boast about the charity he does, so most of it stays under the radar compared to his business ventures. One fan summed up that thought perfectly, commenting, “Underneath the character there is a great man❤️.”

As more positive comments rolled in, one fan hoped for something extra from McGregor, writing, “Damn @thenotoriousmma you could have gave him your watch or something.” Another fan then shared a slightly different take, writing, “Conor hasn’t been the best lately…for me, but this trip to Rome made me reevaluate him 👏👏👏”

The fan implied that McGregor looked calmer and more composed, despite dealing with so many controversies recently. His image had started shifting away from the determined UFC fighter everyone admired. Maybe this Rome appearance, and the upcoming White House event have sparked his return to focus, including his push to get back inside the cage.
