As we mark the end of 2021, the MMA world can certainly enjoy the fact that this year gave them some of the most memorable fights in the sport’s history.

This year saw the return of Conor McGregor against his old-time foe Dustin Poirier not once but twice. Plus, UFC 264: Poirier vs. McGregor 3 became one of the most bought PPV events, setting up a record for the promotion.

Looking back, the UFC saw its fair share of highs and lows in the past couple of years as the pandemic spread across the world.

However, the premier promotion was able to stand back up and continue doing what they do best. 2021 helped the sport grow mainstream as it saw a new era where big stars such as Conor McGregor and Jon Jones weren’t standing columns for the sport anymore.

The former double champ celebrated the new year in his classic avatar as the Irishman partied with his close ones.

McGregor shared a glimpse of his eve on his Instagram, uploading a post captioned “Happy new year what a year! Number 1 baby f*ck a bum”

Nate Diaz shares his 2021 journey; ends 2021 with a ‘bang’

The Stockton native created two of the most viral moments in the MMA world in 2021 as he wobbled #2 welterweight, Leon Edwards, and then made a man flinch at the Woodley vs. Paul venue.

Diaz ended the year by throwing a massive party at the Tampa Bay area with his team consisting of Chris Avila, among others.

Valentina Shevchenko ends the year with an extravaganza

‘The Bullet’ ended the year with a spectacular event in her home country, Kyrgyzstan. The flyweight champion reigns supreme in and out of the octagon as she mesmerized her guests.

Shevchenko ended the year with 2 back-to-back victories, bringing her MMA tally to 22-3.

Julianna Pena welcomes the new year with her children

The newly crowned queen of the bantamweight division celebrated the new year with her children.

Pena shared a video of her lovely celebration on Instagram.

The upcoming year will see many huge bouts taking place, that may shape up the future of how the premier promotion proceeds further. Including the return of GOAT Jon Jones and Conor McGregor.
