Charles Oliveira should fight Conor McGregor – Javier Mendez

Javier Mendez is one of the most successful coaches in MMA. He has coached some of the biggest names in the sport like BJ Penn, Daniel Cormier, and Khabib Nurmagomedov. He runs the American Kickboxing Gym and is also the coach of Islam Makhachev.

Recently, while talking to Helen Yee, Mendez talked about the lightweight title picture. Mendez had some advice for the current champion. Oliveira is coming off a win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 269, and there is speculation surrounding who he’ll fight next. Though the common consensus is that Justin Gaethje should be the one to challenge him next. ‘Do Bronx‘ has hinted at taking a fight against Conor McGregor.

And while talking to Yee, Mendez’s advice to Oliveira was, “Go for the money. Probably, if that gonna put, I mean the UFC is a business; they are gonna do what they are gonna do. So, I would think that you know, look what Dustin did. What Dustin do? Went for the title or go for the money? He went for the money. So, whoever’s gonna provide the most money for Charles is where I believe he’s gonna go.”

It will be interesting to see what the champion does. McGregor is currently out with an injury and will be back in mid-2022. Gaethje is the favorite to get the title shot right now. UFC will have a decision to make on this front really soon.
