The UFC has long been a stage for intense rivalries, even when fighters aren’t in the same weight class. One of the most notable ongoing verbal scraps has been between Conor McGregor and Kamaru Usman. Although talks of a fight between the two once surfaced, it never came to fruition. The Irishman notably called Usman a “bum” during a livestream, adding fuel to their bitter feud and leaving fans to wonder how long it would continue.

Recently, however, their feud took an unexpected turn. Usman’s positive comments about Conor McGregor’s co-owned BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) event during a DAZN interview caught the former two-division champion’s attention. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ remarked, “It was a spectacular event. I mean, they’ve found a niche, you know? And it’s exciting. You see it from the whole crowd; everybody loves it.” Impressed by the welterweight’s praise of the promotion, ‘The Notorious’ set aside their beef and responded to the DAZN Instagram post, writing, “Man speaks FACTS and TRUTH!”

Beyond his UFC career, McGregor has demonstrated his entrepreneurial acumen, notably with his recent part-acquisition of BKFC, which is currently valued at around $411 million. This deal has granted him co-owner status and “middle move equity” power within the promotion. While McGregor is gearing up for a potential boxing return, Kamaru Usman is reportedly in talks for his own Octagon comeback next year. However, a UFC veteran recently cast doubt on the Irishman’s return to the UFC—let’s take a look at their thoughts on the matter.

Brendan Schaub on Conor McGregor’s UFC return

Since breaking his ankle at UFC 264 in 2021, Conor McGregor has been on the sidelines, attempting to find a way back to the Octagon. Unfortunately, his plans have repeatedly fallen through, often sidelined by his injury and legal voes. Despite these challenges, ‘The Notorious’ recently reignited fan excitement, announcing his intention to return to the boxing ring, possibly against Logan Paul, before a potential MMA comeback.

This announcement, however, has left many fans questioning whether McGregor will ever step back into the UFC. Brendan Schaub, however, believes the Irishman’s time in the UFC may be over. On a recent episode of The Fighter and the Kid podcast, Schaub remarked, “He [McGregor] tweets all sorts of random s**t. I’ll tell you what, it signifies to me [that] the UFC’s kind of done with Conor because he has to get granted release from the UFC or just granted the ability to do it. So I think Dana’s going ‘yeah, do that’ are they going ‘we’re good, dude, we’re good.'”
