Conor McGregor was recently felicitated by the Mayor of Miami, Francis X. Suarez, and was awarded the key to the city. The UFC megastar posted the triumphant news on social media and he was seen surrounded by his family. In the pictures posted by McGregor, his two children and his partner, Dee Devlin can be seen with smiles on their faces.

This feat is yet another feather in McGregor’s hat as he continues to collect acclaim outside the ring. ‘The Notorious’ has made major moves in the world of business and philanthropy and this has helped to repair his image. McGregor has been involved in his fair share of controversies, however, receiving the key to the city is certainly looked upon favorably.

Following the news of his recent felicitation, fans were quick to point out that Miami has been an interesting location for McGregor. The city was the place of one of many arrests of McGregor throughout recent years. In 2019, McGregor was booked after he snatched a fans’ phone and smashed it on the ground.

‘Mystic Mac’ went on to do his famed ‘Billionaire or Billi Strut’ and fans were understandably taken aback when the video surfaced. The incident took place right in front of the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami and made headlines immediately. The MMA community immediately plucked out the irony regarding the fact that McGregor now has the key to the very city where he was arrested.

However, in the slew of incidents, McGregor has been involved in, the aforementioned case in Miami is relatively tame. His attack on the fighter bus in Barclay’s Arena parking lot and assault of an elderly man definitely takes the cake.

In recent years, McGregor seems to be taking steps to clean up his image and he appears to be on the straight and narrow. Other UFC stars like Jon Jones unfortunately can’t say the same. It remains to be seen how long McGregor can stay in line and fans will be hoping for the best from the biggest star on the UFC roster.
