According to a report by the Irish Mirror, the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (NBCI) has been persistently attempting to reach him. However, their efforts have remained fruitless so far. Gardai reportedly investigated one of Conor McGregor’s associates and seized their phone as part of the probe.

The Irish outlet subsequently managed to reach McGregor’s solicitor, Ciaran Mulholland, last night, who confirmed that the UFC star has remained out of jurisdiction since tearing his ACL against Max Holloway at UFC 329 in Las Vegas, an injury that required him to seek medical attention in California, and claimed that McGregor tried to contact the police in September.

“Mr McGregor has been out of the jurisdiction since his UFC Las Vegas fight and remains out of the jurisdiction under medical care and advice in California,” McGregor’s solicitor said. “This office made direct contact with Gardaí last September when this matter was first reported in the media, confirming Mr McGregor’s willingness to assist Gardaí with their enquiries as a witness.”

The outlet also pointed out that McGregor’s legal representative, Mulholland, assured them the UFC star would cooperate after he is medically cleared to travel.

“Mr McGregor is willing to assist Gardai and has offered to do this remotely from the US or upon his return to the jurisdiction when he’s medically fit to travel,” Mulholland added.

Despite Mulholland claiming that UFC tried to communicate with the police, the outlet further reveals that Gardai attempted to speak with McGregor in September last year and again in July this year, though it didn’t specify whether the police received a reply.

To be clear, McGregor hasn’t been charged with perjury. The police are currently attempting to interview him as part of their investigation into the Nikita Hand case. Though the actual case has been closed, the authorities suspect that false claims were made on McGregor’s side when he appealed it in February last year.

In fact, two people have been accused of making false statements in McGregor’s favor.

Irish court charges a couple with perjury in Conor McGregor case

Samantha O’Reilly and Steven Cummin are the couple primarily accused of giving false statements in McGregor’s unsuccessful appeal last year regarding the legal case with Nikita Hand.

O’Reilly’s affidavits were presented by McGregor as fresh evidence on the basis that she claimed to be Hand’s neighbour. She claimed to have witnessed a physical altercation between Hand and her ex-boyfriend around the time of the initial allegations in 2018.

Following the statement, the couple came under investigation by the Irish authorities.

According to MMA Fighting’s report on September 30, 2026, the couple appeared at the Irish court on Tuesday, where they were formally charged with perjury. Both are accused by the court of falsifying statements in favor of McGregor and are alleged to have known they were fabricating their statements.
