Conor McGregor may have changed his tune about fighting ‘YouTube’ boxers! The Irish MMA icon has been out of competition since 2021 after sustaining a fracture to his leg in his last MMA fight at UFC 264 against Dustin Poirier. His return has been the source of much speculation amongst the fans as he had recently hinted at a possibility of returning in June 2024 to face Michael Chandler, but so far, the UFC hasn’t provided an official confirmation for the date of his comeback.

In the past, McGregor has been called out by figures in the ‘influencer boxing’ scene like Jake Paul and Tommy Fury. Despite previously rejecting these offers, in a recent interview, McGregor hinted at the possibility that he might be open to the idea now.

In a post shared on Instagram by Xcellent MMA, McGregor stated, “KSI has a big name in the U.K., The Pauls? That Tyson fight is just a strange one to me. I hope Tyson takes his nose off. I’m sure at some stage, you know, we’ll go through all of these guys. (Tommy) Fury called me out today. It’s just like another little world, isn’t it? I’m open for it, I’ll never say no.”

His willingness to step into the boxing ring again is interesting as the last time he fought in a boxing match was against Floyd Mayweather in 2017 in ‘The Money Fight’ where the Irishman lost via TKO in the 10th round. Nevertheless, the thought of McGregor pursuing a bout against influencers hasn’t sat well with the fans who took to the comments section to highlight their displeasure with ‘The Notorious’s claims.

Fans slam Conor McGregor for entertaining the idea of fighting ‘influencers’

While Conor McGregor acknowledged Tommy Fury’s callout of him and KSI’s massive popularity in the UK, the MMA fans aren’t pleased with his intentions to possibly be a part of ‘influencer boxing’. Here’s how the fandom reacted:

Fans exclaimed how they believed this might be the end of McGregor’s MMA career and his long-awaited comeback to the Octagon:
