Conor McGregor Reveals What Really Made Him Come Back to the UFC Despite $200 Million Luxury Life He Spends Out of It
Conor McGregor is making his highly anticipated return to the UFC octagon after suffering a leg injury at UFC 264. During his bout against Dustin Poirier, McGregor sustained a broken leg, resulting in the fight being stopped by the ringside doctor. Following the injury, ‘The Notorious’ took some time off to focus on his recovery and healing process. Now, fans are ecstatic to see McGregor back in action as he joins the 31st season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’. The premiere of the show aired on May 30th at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN+. This season, the Irishman will serve as a coach, going head-to-head with Michael Chandler, the former three-time Bellator lightweight champion.
McGregor has recently opened up about his decision to step away from the octagon and his motivation for returning. The Irishman is someone who has a great passion for MMA. Even though his net worth stands at $200 million, McGregor feels that MMA fighting is important in his life, and that completes him. Due to his thirst for winning, ‘The Notorious’ decided to come back and fight again. However, he mentioned that during his hiatus, he was preparing himself to come back stronger.

In an interview with UFC reporter Megan Olivi, McGregor detailed the reasons why he was back. He said, “I was recovering from the injury. Trying to walk my way back and now here we are. I’m out here in Las Vegas. I’m immersing myself in the game. Coaching these young kids coming up trying to fight for their contract. Trying to, you know, give my wisdom and my knowledge of the game that I’ve attained over the years and that’s its good to be back.“

The former UFC two-division champion stated he wanted to come back to TUF to share his knowledge with the struggling fighters. The UFC icon also mentioned that his aim is to make sure the fighters under him get contracts. The Irishman was not on good terms with the anti-doping agency, and the issues between the two parties escalated with every passing day.

The matter disheartened the MMA world, as the possibility of McGregor’s fight against Chandler became doubtful. However, nearly a week ago, McGregor and USADA confirmed that they had sorted out the issues.
