This Saturday, David Feldman’s promotion makes its long-awaited return after a short hiatus, bringing fight fans a dose of action on a rare UFC-free weekend. With no major MMA events scheduled over the Labor Day holiday, BKFC Fight Night Budva stands alone as the must-watch show in combat sports. The event goes down at Budva, Montenegro’s iconic Top Hill, setting the stage for a night of bare-knuckle chaos.

Coverage kicks off with the countdown show at 1:30 pm ET / 10:30 am PT on BKFC’s official YouTube channel, before the action shifts to DAZN at 2 pm ET / 11 am PT. As it stands, the final lineup features 11 fights, promising a full slate of violence for fans. Everything seemed to be on track, until recently. And now, Conor McGregor’s BKFC Budva debut has taken an unexpected hit. How, you ask?

Conor McGregor’s BKFC in Budva rocked by sudden storm

At the top of the hour, the promotion announced that the event would be delayed for viewers at home, though they didn’t say for how long. Heavy rain has been pouring on Top Hill, the outdoor venue in Budva, for hours. As of this writing, the downpour hasn’t stopped, and forecasts suggest it could continue until 2 AM EST tonight. Just one minute after the broadcast was supposed to begin, BKFC confirmed on Instagram that the fights would instead air later on Saturday through the BKFC App.

“BKFC BUDVA will be airing at a later time,” the promotion wrote on Instagram, adding that “due to weather-related disruptions, BKFC BUDVA will air at a later time.” On their official website, the update was more specific: “BKFC Fight Night Budva from Budva, Montenegro will air via tape delay on The BKFC App tonight at 7 pm ET / 4 pm PT. The highly anticipated live broadcast was delayed due to weather-related disruptions.”

This sudden disruption highlights one of BKFC’s ongoing challenges: staging outdoor shows at dramatic venues gives the promotion its unique aesthetic but also exposes events to unpredictable conditions. Industry observers on X immediately pointed out that this was not the first weather scare for a combat sports event — boxing in outdoor stadiums has faced similar delays in the past. BKFC fans debated whether the organization should consider weather insurance or roofed venues for future international cards.

Naturally, fans were frustrated by the setback, especially with the fights so close to starting. But they weren’t the only ones. Conor McGregor also voiced his disappointment and took to Instagram to share his own update on the event. So what did he say?

Conor McGregor left frustrated after BKFC Budva chaos

Conor McGregor, who appeared ready to enjoy the event, shared a video on Instagram with the caption: “Live in the ring here in Budva, Montenegro tonight, and right after a huge KO win in the featured bout of the evening, out of nowhere as the winner was being declared, a wild storm erupted around us! The whole place started rumbling! Woah! BUDVA BROUGHT THE THUNDA! #BKFC ANOTHER WILD NIGHT FOR THE ALIEN OF COMBAT SPORT, @bareknucklefc ⚡️👀.” In the clip, McGregor, drenched in rain, could be heard saying, “Who brought the thunder, baby?”

He went on to describe the chaos, adding: “That was the maddest thing ever, oh my God. I’m sitting there, the thing starts fumbling and shaking. And I wasn’t waiting. That is a fact. That’s from me, brother, thank you so much. My check for the night, big check. I know this ain’t safe, but look what’s coming here. Look at this, folks. I’m in this ring.” McGregor seemed half-amused, half-stunned as the storm interrupted what was supposed to be a celebration.

He closed out by saying, “Montenegro local, big KO finish. We’re in the ring about to celebrate, and the storm just erupted out of nowhere. Mother Nature. That’s lovely. The heavens arose. I got out of there, I got out of there. The heavens arose,” he screamed at the end. While the storm may have halted the show, it also made the night unforgettable for everyone who witnessed it. So, what do you think of Conor McGregor’s reaction to the chaos in Budva?
