Conor McGregor is arguably the most well-known UFC fighter in the world. ‘Notorious’ changed the dynamics of the game for good. Before his inclusion into the UFC, no one believed in the concept of dual champ until ‘Mystic Mac’ stepped up to make it a reality. His featherweight title run was nothing, but a dream come true. On one side, it was McGregor who was the new talent of the division and on the other side, it was the mythical Jose Aldo who had been undefeated for the last 10 years. While the entire UFC rooted for Aldo, McGregor knew he was destined for greatness. 9 years after his victory, he has again reminded those doubters.

Conor McGregor’s fight against Jose Aldo was controversial not only due to the 13-second knockout but also because of the buildup to the fight itself. ‘Mystic Mac,’ aimed to make the bout more challenging and appealing to the general populace, and in doing ͏so, he dragged Aldo through a verbal on͏slaught. McGregor not only berated Aldo for who ͏he was but also called out the entire nation of Brazil.

McGregor, in his latest escapade, has come forward to remind everyone why he is termed as ‘Mystic Mac’. The former dual weight champion took to his X handle to share a video of everyone rooting for Aldo ahead of their fight and captioned it as “Ireland, baby! We did it! #McGregorForever“.

The UFC community made Conor Mcgregor the villain of the show. Everyone was rooting for Aldo to clinch the victory because he was undefeated for 10 years and was on a 15-fight winning streak, while on the other hand, McGregor was just a novice. Aldo roared that he would punish McGregor for everything he said about him and his country.

However, on the day of the match, McGregor took only 13 seconds to finish Aldo. ‘Mystic Mac’s spectacular knockout made a sound in the entire UFC thus cementing his status as one of the greats. The story of his accession to greatness happened 9 years ago but it still holds relevance to this date. Nonetheless, ‘Mystic Mac’ is now trying to make a comeback, but there’s been a delay.

Conor McGregor’s comeback is anticipated since last year and the unnecessary delay is just adding to the evergrowing frustration of the MMA community. There have been developments to make McGregor fight this year, however, nothing has been made astute. Amid this tussle, a UFC insider stated that the primary reason for the delay was Dana White wanting to sign a new contract with McGregor.

USA Today via Reuters

‘Mystic Mac’ has only two fights left in his contract, and White wants McGregor to sign a new contract. Nonetheless, White’s statement is somewhat different. “Conor McGregor has probably been one of the best business partners we’ve ever had. Getting Conor to show up to s**t on time is a problem. But Conor, as far as the business goes, everybody talks about how Conor used to be on the dole and all this stuff. For a guy who was on the dole, Conor McGregor is a very good businessman, and Conor McGregor has always been a great partner to us. There’s never any hanging out and haggling for money or, you know, ‘You pay me more money.”
