How serious is Conor McGregor about his UFC return? Well, so far, ‘The Notorious’ has successfully placed himself back in the testing pool and has been uploading training videos. Still, the skepticism around this comeback keeps growing among fans. It’s because the former two-division champion hasn’t fought since his 2021 loss against Dustin Poirier, and even missed his UFC 303 return vs Michael Chandler because of injury. However, when the Irishman announced that he would stay away from social media, many finally started to admit that he might be serious this time.

In October, McGregor posted a photo of himself on Instagram and captioned it, “Hey folks online, I’m out of here for a bit, see you again soon! My love, unwavering! Thank you all.” A month after that post, the former champ’s Instagram account seems to be deactivated. That was significant because McGregor’s account held 46.4 million-plus followers and wasn’t only meant to show glimpses of his lavish life, but promote his many businesses. As he’s focused on training to make his UFC return, ‘The Notorious’ made a brief appearance elsewhere on social media to sponsor the growing Armenian promotion Hype FC.

Conor McGregor returns to social media to support Armenian promotion
Hype FC shared a video on Instagram where McGregor spoke in support of their event, “I hear there is a big MMA fighting event happening on December 30th called Hype Fighting. I wanna give a shout out to Armenia’s Mike Tyson Leko! Wishing you the best of luck. My forged Irish stout team are all in. Forge Irish Stout, the world’s creamiest stout. Now available in Armenia. We’re sponsoring this hype event. I’m supporting Armenia’s Mike Tyson, and I’m watching it live on Kick.”
Now that definitely adds to Conor McGregor financially supporting up-and-coming events to grow and deliver some violence for the audience. To add more about the event, the Armenian promotion Hype FC is all set to host a bare-knuckle boxing event on December 20th, not MMA. In that event, undefeated local Lendrush Akopyan, with a 10-0-1 record, also known as Armenian Mike Tyson and going by the moniker ‘Leko,’ will fight Russian Amirkhan Oev, who holds a 1-2-0 record.

So, it seems McGregor has broken his social media absence just to back the horse that’s most likely going to win. But that’s not the only update related to the former UFC champion. Before his comeback at the White House event, another surprise came straight from Venum, the UFC’s kit brand.

Venum releases ‘The Notorious’ custom shorts before the White House fight
In the UFC, custom shorts haven’t just become a fashion statement; they’ve become a part of a fighter’s identity. For instance, Alex Pereira’s multicolored shorts carry cultural symbolism like the cheetah print, while Ilia Topuria’s shorts feature a massive bull to honor his moniker, ‘El Matador.’ The only big question left was what the promotion’s most renowned superstar would wear. The answer is: Dollar Bills!
Even before next year’s White House spectacle receives the official tag—and before the news of McGregor headlining it—Venum has already posted ‘The Notorious’ green shorts featuring American dollar bills. With the Irishman delivering the promotion eight straight million-dollar PPV buys, he definitely deserves to wear money-printed shorts. But for the unversed, this isn’t the first time these shorts have been revealed.
According to a post from the popular Instagram account MMA Pack in 2024, McGregor once posted on X, “U.S. Dollar bill shorts for me” when a fan asked him about the theme of his custom shorts back when UFC 300 became the event that launched the first batch of custom shorts.
