The news of Conor McGregor‘s return to the octagon has set off a storm of relief and uncontrollable excitement among MMA enthusiasts worldwide. ‘The Notorious’ is all set to assume the mantle of a coach in the upcoming 31st season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’, where he will be pitted against Michael Chandler. Moreover, to the fans’ delight, UFC President Dana White has announced that once TUF 31 concludes, McGregor and Chandler will lock horns in the octagon later this year.

However, the road to the Irishman’s comeback has hit a major snag, and the excitement may be short-lived. Recent reports suggest that McGregor is yet to appear for his USADA test, which could put his highly anticipated fight with Michael Chandler at risk if he fails to do so soon. The wait for McGregor‘s comeback has been long and nerve-wracking, and this could be the last thing the fans would want to happen.

MMA reporter Aaron Bronsteter took to Twitter recently to break the news to fans that Conor McGregor is yet to be tested by USADA this year; according to the organization’s updated test history. This development has raised concerns, as fighters need to undergo USADA tests at least six months prior to their bouts.

McGregor‘s fight against ‘Iron’ is speculated to be held in September. It leaves a very narrow window for the Irishman to get his USADA tests. And failure to do so could put a major dent in his comeback plans.

Bronsteter wrote, “USADA updated their test history today and Conor McGregor is yet to be tested in 2023. If his bout with Michael Chandler is to be booked for September as has been speculated, he will need to reenroll in the USADA anti-doping program in the coming weeks if he hasn’t already.”

There has been a lot of speculation over why McGregor has been avoiding the USADA pool, with some drawing parallels to his alleged steroid use during his recovery. However, ‘The Notorious’s opponent, Michael Chandler, couldn’t care less about the controversy surrounding the Irishman.

Michael Chandler doesn’t care about Conor McGregor not being tested so far

In a recent interview with ESPN, Michael Chandler shared his thoughts on coaching against Conor McGregor in TUF 31. He aslo talked about facing him in the octagon later this year. When asked if McGregor‘s lack of testing in the past year bothered him, Chandler responded with a nonchalant attitude; saying it was the least of his concerns.

“I honestly couldn’t care less.”, said the ‘Iron’. He further added, “We all train hard, we all hit hard, we all have a certain amount of skills. If there was anything going on, more power to him. [But] that doesn’t change the outcome most likely on fight night. I have never once worried about it.”

Chandler also stated, “It almost just adds another layer of intrigue to this whole thing to be honest with you… It’s another thing to add to the list of talking points for people to talk about.”

With the fight speculated to happen in September, the clock is ticking for the Irishman to complete his USADA tests. It remains to be seen whether McGregor will be able to complete his tests in time. But one thing’s for sure: the buildup to this fight is going to be a rollercoaster ride.
