It seems like the UFC has finally found its face! Ilia Topuria has quickly risen to become one of the most dominant fighters since his debut back in 2020. ‘El Matador’ is now gearing up to face Alexander Volkanovski for the featherweight title at UFC 298. Topuria is confident of dethroning ‘Volk’ and is now eyeing his dream fight at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

‘In five minutes’ Ilia Topuria on selling out Santiago Bernabéu stadium

The undefeated UFC fighter is already planning to dethrone Alexander Volkanovski. At the UFC 298 presser, El Matador’s antics showcased his confidence. His gags were pretty much similar to what Conor McGregor did with Jose Aldo back in 2015. Nevertheless, his dreams and ambitions don’t just stop there.

During a recent interview with Daniel Cormier, Topuria was asked whether he is confident about selling out Real Madrid’s home ground Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Spain. ‘El Matador’ had one thing to say to the former dual-weight champion “In five minutes” Daniel Cormier was caught off-guard by that answer, ‘DC’ then reminded Topuria that the stadium has a sitting capacity of approx 70000 people (81,000). Again, Topuria has one thing to say “It doesn’t matter. We got a big-big following.”

Topuria is confident that he could sell out the stadium within minutes, but his confidence may be a bit far-fetched. However, things change when Conor McGregor comes into play. In a separate statement, Topuria asserted that he wants Conor McGregor “If it was my decision, I’d fight Conor McGregor. That would be the fight I’d aim for, and that’s what I aim for.” Topuria declared when asked at the UFC 298 media day who he’d like to face at the Bernabeu.

Topuria’s appetite will only be fulfilled if he defeats Volkanovski. Yet, according to the former featherweight champion, Max Holloway, ‘Volk’ is planning to demonstrate why he is regarded as the ‘Great.’

“Blessed” has faced Alexander Volkanovski twice in his career and has lost on both occasions. Holloway understands that ‘Volk’ is not someone to take lightly. ‘Great’ has yet to face defeat in the featherweight division and there’s a reason why he is called the ‘Great’. Holloway believes that Topuria will be surprised to face ‘Volk’

“And the first question is, Volk, man. Volk is here, and you guys shatter. Volk’s last fight, getting finished, whatever. He’s here in the old man talk. The guy really got the dog in him. You guys want to find out tomorrow. I think so he finishes it. Ilia, I’m with him. Before five” said Holloway at the UFC 300 presser.
