Conor McGregor took to his X account (formerly Twitter) to announce his return. The former two-division champion announced that he would make a return at the International Fight Week in June against Michael Chandler. However, Dana White was recently on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ and stated McGregor might return in the fall, but that nothing was officially decided.

“Hopefully this year. There is no date. I’m hoping for the fall. Hopefully, we get it done in the fall,” the UFC CEO said. While McGregor wants to get back to the cage as soon as possible, some people are worried he has passed his prime. Has he?

McGregor has been away for almost three years after suffering a leg injury. His being out of action is the biggest concern for Luke Thomas. In his latest YouTube video, Thomas said, “Now how did we get to this position where I have argued and I am arguing that Conor McGregor’s prime is over.”

“Well, UFC president Dana White went on the Pat McAfee show this week and he was asked by Pat. ‘Hey, when is Conor coming back, and is he going to fight Michael Chandler?’ How old is Conor McGregor without looking it up? How old is he? The answer is 35. 35 years of age and in July he’ll be 36 years of age.”

But age is not the only problem here. Conor McGregor was last seen inside the Octagon at UFC 264, where he took on Dustin Poirier in their trilogy bout. ‘The Notorious’ lost the fight via doctor’s stoppage and suffered a horrendous leg injury in the very first round. Since then, he has been waiting to make a comeback. His absence from the Octagon has raised some questions lately: Will fans see the same McGregor from now on? Only time can answer that.

Now the Chandler- McGregor saga has been going on for quite some time now and the fans want to see the pair lock horns soon. But McGregor and White’s contradictory statements are also something worth paying attention to.

Dana White has maintained his stance. While he looks forward to seeing the Irishman make a comeback and fight Michael Chandler, they don’t have a date in mind yet. And McGregor has maintained his stance that he wants to fight as soon as possible.

However, the fighter continues to tease a return despite Dana White refuting it. And this has been happening for a while. Remember how ‘Mystic Mac’ wanted to fight in 2023 but missed the USADA deadline? As a result, he couldn’t fight in the last PPV event of the year. The UFC CEO then mentioned McGregor would fight in 2024, but there’s no date finalized. The potential date keeps getting pushed further, and this has also led to frustration in McGregor’s team.

If all of this wasn’t enough, McGregor also keeps teasing a UFC 300 return, but Dana White has stayed mum about it. UFC 300 still doesn’t have a main event decided and fans seem to have had enough with White.
