There is a fighter who holds Conor McGregor in high regard despite having gone against him. Could you take a wild guess who this former TUF coach is? Hint? It’s not Michael Chandler.
Urijah Faber and McGregor famously crossed paths during The Ultimate Fighter back in 2015, when they were rival coaches. Faber has a rather brilliant history in the promotion and in MMA. Now, ‘The Cali Kid’ spends most of his time training future and current fighters. The list includes the likes of ONE Championship icons such as Sage Northcutt and Thanh Le. But the one fighter he hasn’t forgotten is, of course, his friend, ‘The Notorious’.

Conor McGregor and Urijah Faber may have gone against one another at TUF 22, but in the end, they were good friends who grew to appreciate each other. This may be an uncommon theme in anyone who ever faces off against ‘The Notorious’ who’s infamous for getting to his opponent’s head.
In a recent edition of Quinton Jackson‘s podcast, Urijah Faber sat down with the former UFC light heavyweight champion to talk about all things MMA. He opened up about how he and McGregor went out partying and had a lot of better times after TUF was over.

“Conor’s f*cking awesome.” He told Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson. “Oh, I love that guy. It was like a slow (build up). . . didn’t know each other. Basically not liking each other and slowly became pretty good friends on the show (TUF.) And people don’t really know that because we kinda never really put it publically.”

His love for McGregor even surprised Jackson who reacted by saying he was just not expecting that sort of wholesome answer. And that makes sense. Very few of McGregor’s opponents have good things to say about him post or pre-fight. One good example is none other than Michael Chandler, a man who has waited long to fight the Irishman.

Is the Conor McGregor-Michael Chandler fight ever going to happen? There’s no way to tell. For all we know, Chandler has now called out Conor McGregor in every way a fighter can. From X posts to callouts from within the cage, he’s done it all. In fact, he recently went a step forward too.
The UFC lightweight went to the WWE and called Conor McGregor out from the wrestling ring too. Now, if that isn’t enough, perhaps nothing ever will be. It won’t be a surprise if we see a callout advert tied to the back of a plane circling McGregor’s Dublin home.

After all, Chandler wants the fight bad, and he’s done everything in his power to make it happen. Meanwhile, McGregor is busy promoting his breakout role in ‘Road House’ with Jake Gyllenhaal. Will Dana White have to force the fighters’ hand to return soon? Is that even something that he can do?
