Conor McGregor has accomplished much in the UFC world. He’s also traveled to the unknown world of boxing and come back with a worthy performance. Now, if he ventures away from MMA again, will it be for a Bare-Knuckle fight? If his former rival Eddie Alvarez is to be believed, he might just be fit for it.

McGregor and Alvarez have clashed before, at UFC 205, in a lightweight title bout. The Irishman knocked out Alvarez to become the maiden simultaneous two-weight champion. Since then, the two haven’t been on a collision course again. Years later, McGregor is sorting out his UFC return and Alvarez has found a foothold in the BKFC. But can McGregor follow his former rival to the BKFC?

Does McGregor have what it takes for bare knuckle?

Eddie Alvarez recently appeared on Morning Kombat, in an interview with Brian Campbell. Alvarez is set to face Mike Perry on the 2nd of December 2023. During the interview, he addressed the fight he’ll soon be in and spoke about how Conor McGregor could do things in the BKFC. ‘The Underground King’ believed that due to McGregor’s style of striking, he could be a good fit for bare-knuckle.

“I think he has a good style for it,” said Alvarez. “Just because like I said that fencing style where you’re in and out and you’re not taking shots to give shots. You’re not that kind of (a fighter) like Mexican Fighting. I wouldn’t say that that’s conducive for bare knuckle. I think that bouncy back-and-forth tag, you’re it style makes for a very good bare-knuckle fighter. So Conor has that style. I think he did that well and (can) do well.”

McGregor certainly has a bounce to his step as he fights everyone with one hand extended to judge the blows and the distance. This could give him the edge he might need when the gloves come off. Alvarez made a good point about ‘The Notorious’ being able to remain as unscathed as possible during a BKFC match because these blows could cut you open. But would McGregor ever consider going over?

Temptation isn’t something Conor McGregor can avoid

Back at BKFC 41, when Mike Perry beat Luke Stronghold, McGregor was in the arena. He even faced off with Perry after the match, and the taunting was immaculate. McGregor would later take to his Instagram handle to express his interest in bare-knuckle fighting.

“I was called into the bare knuckle ring last night. I fear nothing. No man that breathes air. I only fear God and abide by God and if God guides me to a professional bare knuckle fight in my time for my new world title, I do.” McGregor proclaimed later on.

Perhaps there is a potential future for the fighter in a matchup that has no gloves. Until then, all fans can do is hope he makes his much-needed return to the UFC. Who should McGregor fight next? Let us know in the comments.
