Conor McGregor’s Plans to Enter Hollywood Affected His UFC Career: “I Was Kicked Off a Card”

UFC star Conor McGregor has proved to be larger than life. His fights and trash talk prior to them have effectively shown his persona inside and outside the octagon.

As a result, it is not too surprising when we hear that the Irish fighter was once about to make a Hollywood debut. In an old interview, McGregor revealed how he let go off the chance to be in a Hollywood movie. This was because of his passion for the sport of MMA.

McGregor said, “I was scheduled to go straight into a Hollywood movie where I’ll right out, right after a fight. So I had to ring next day the director cause I didn’t want, cause he came out to the house that I was in prior to 196 and I met with his people. I was like shook hands, I shook a man’s hand and told him I’ll do something. So if I do something like that I follow true.”

 

“So I didn’t want to just, you know, I didn’t just want to say no and not make contact with him. … I rang him after, the fight was like, ‘look, it’s not in my heart at this time. I need to focus on this fight. This is what I look to do, and that’s it’.”

“I was kicked off a card because of my focus on this…”

Because of being removed from a fight, ‘The Notorious’ seemed to have realized that his combat career was more important to him.

As per an article published by ‘Bleacher Report‘, McGregor was supposed to star in ‘XXX: Return of Xander Cage’, alongside some huge names. However, the fighter was coming off a loss against Nate Diaz and UFC 196. Hence, he wanted to focus on his rematch.

Thus, as per the report, Conor McGregor turned down a seven-figure deal. The athlete won against Diaz during their rematch. Post this, he defeated Eddie Alvarez.

However, Khabib Nurmagomedov successfully stopped him. Post this fight loss, he also lost against Dustin Poirier twice. As of now, he is expected to return to the octagon soon. Upon his return, it will be his first fight post his leg injury and fans would surely be curious to see how he uses his left kicks.
