Conor McGregor’s recent claims of returning to the UFC soon haven’t exactly convinced Daniel Cormier! The Irish MMA superstar has been busy promoting his role in ‘Road House’ and during a recent interview with ESPN, he proclaimed, “It’s all systems go. The Mac; The Notorious will be returning to the UFC Octagon this summer.”

However, according to Cormier, he is still reserved in his excitement for McGregor’s return. Speaking with Chael Sonnen on a recent episode of ‘Good Guy/Bad Guy’, the former ‘champ-champ’ and commentator highlighted that ‘The Notorious’s comeback claims have caused him to be “skeptical” about the proposed timeline for his return to action!

Conor McGregor’s return to the UFC has been the source of much speculation in the MMA world. Originally scheduled to face Michael Chandler last year, the fight has been delayed due to multiple reasons, primarily due to McGregor’s issues with athlete testing.

The numerous delays had also caused the Irishman to make a stunning revelation about the impact they have had on his mental health. But his recent assertion that he will be returning to the UFC this summer has also raised several eyebrows.

As such, speaking on the ‘Good Guy/Bad Guy’ show on YouTube, Chael Sonnen stated, “I believe him in this one, but it was secondhand, just to remind you, what he just said, that his team got a call from an agent. He did not say, ‘I spoke to Dana’ just for example, so we do have a little bit of miscommunication.”

This prompted Daniel Cormier to chime in by stating, “And that right there, that right there Chael is why I still hold my excitement back… If Conor McGregor really wants to fight, Conor McGregor can just call Dana and go, ‘Hey, I’m in, June, International Fight Week, book me and Chandler, I’m down.’ He has that ability, to reach out to the boss directly, but instead he’s going through the team, that’s why I’m skeptical.”

The discussion between Cormier and Sonnen sheds light on the complexities of McGregor’s announcement. While McGregor’s intentions are clear, Cormier remains cautious about the validity of the information provided. And until there is a clear confirmation from the UFC and Dana White, doubts about his comeback plans may persist among fans and fellow fighters alike.

But according to the UFC head honcho, there was a particular reason behind the delay in booking McGregor’s return fight as he revealed in a recent conversation!

Dana White shuts down claims of ‘miscommunication’ with McGregor

Conor McGregor and the UFC seem to be getting back on track after months of uncertainty. In a recent appearance on the ‘Pound 4 Pound’ podcast with Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo, the UFC boss clarified the situation between the Irish MMA star and the promotion.

He stated, “There’s no lack of communication. Not at all.” White also explained that McGregor’s involvement in promoting the ‘Road House’ remake led to the delay in booking his next fight.

He further went on to state, “Conor needed this time to take off, handle his obligations, and now, once this is over, he can get back into full-time training — which means from Thursday on, we can start talking about fights for Conor.”

Although McGregor is rumored to face Michael Chandler upon his return, no official agreements have been made yet. Despite the delay, White also expressed confidence in McGregor’s ability to return to peak performance, acknowledging the challenges of maintaining hunger and motivation after achieving significant financial success.
