He expressed excitement at the prospect of witnessing McGregor back in action, acknowledging the competitive spirit that fuels him. When asked about whether he feels McGregor can make a successful return, Thompson said the following: “I could see it every time that he talks, every punch that he threw it was like he was swinging at somebody. You could see it in him. It’s funny because when you take time off like that and you’re a guy like him who has been at the top of the game for a long time, not just in the fight game but in business, you have that urge to compete right. You have to fire into that flame and you see it rekindled in him. I’m excited to see him fight again for sure.”

The Irishman’s strongest weapon, according to Thompson

Thompson, known for his own striking prowess, couldn’t help but marvel at McGregor‘s formidable punching power. Thompson shared his firsthand experience of training sessions with McGregor, highlighting the size and strength of McGregor‘s hands. He noted that McGregor‘s fists are like “freaking mittens” and emphasized that McGregor‘s natural gifts contribute to the ease with which he can knock opponents down.

“I was looking at his fist. He’s got freaking mittens on. He’s got huge freaking mitts as hands. Which is why it almost seems very easy when he hits with that left hand, guys drop. No wonder when he’s got like mitts like he’s got bigger hands than I do. It’s ridiculous man so yeah man it’s gonna be a sick fight for sure.”, said Thompson.
