UFC Superstar and former two-divisional champion, Conor McGregor has been very vocal on Twitter in recent years. The Irish fighter may have earned a fortune outside of the Octagon, but his in-ring career has taken a downward slide.

With back-to-back knockout losses, and only 1 win in the past 5+ years. It is incredibly hard for Dana White to make a case for Conor vs Charles. However, ‘Notorious’ is hell-bent on taking that fight. McGregor has showcased his interest in taking that but surging undefeated contender, Islam Makhachev doesn’t approve.

Conor McGregor is not eligible to fight Charles Oliveira

Islam responded to Conor’s call out and suggested the fight should take place on February 30th. As that date doesn’t exist, this seemed like Islam’s way of saying that Conors’ chances of fighting for the title also don’t exist. The division is filled with fresh faces, and the Irish fighter is not in the top rankings anymore.

His two losses to Dustin Poirier have dropped him significantly down in rankings. He will have to start from scratch once again to stake his claim at the world title. His arch-nemesis Khabib Nurmagomedov has retired from the sport, making it impossible for him to avenge that loss.

However, he can still fight Khabib’s cousin Islam to raise his rank and fire back at ‘The Eagle’. It seems highly unlikely that Nurmagomedov returns to the Octagon and this might be the only way for the notorious one to get his revenge.

McGregor needs to get back to his winning ways and will look to fight a top contender from the division. However, at this point, many fans believe he can not best the top 5 of the weight class.

However, McGregor is supremely confident in his abilities, but perhaps it would be for the best for the former UFC champ to build himself back up slowly. However, McGregor is a fighter and one can never count the former champion out.
