Few injuries look more horrific than a leg snap. UFC fans will remember Anderson Silva and Conor McGregor breaking their legs clean in their fights against Chris Weidman and Dustin Poirier, respectively. And perhaps the nastiest-looking injury was suffered by former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman.
The American had famously broken his leg in two during his bout against Uriah Hall in the second round at UFC 261 two years ago. This injury kept him out of the cage for a year as he underwent surgery and subsequent rehabilitation. He came back to face Brad Tavares at UFC 292 earlier this month, headlined by the Sean O’Malley vs. Aljamain Sterling fight. Weidman recently shared an update on the injuries he had sustained in his latest fight.

Chris Weidman reveals damage sustained during Tavares fight on Instagram
In a picture posted on his Instagram Story on his account, the former champion revealed the damage Tavares had done to him during their bout at UFC 292. In his comeback fight, Weidman lasted the full quota of three sanctioned rounds. However, Tavares was declared the winner via a unanimous decision on the judges’ scorecard.
In an attempt to capitalize on Weidman’s injury, Tavares relentlessly went after the New York native’s legs. The 35-year-old came out with a barrage of leg kicks targeting both of his legs. Weidman revealed his badly bruised inner thigh in the Instagram Story and wrote a caption calling out UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis. “YOOO @thebeastufc. My b**ls is hot.” he wrote.
Daniel Cormier impressed with Weidman’s performance at UFC 292 performance
Many were unimpressed with Weidman’s performance. UFC boss Dana White even told reporters after the fight that he thought the 39-year-old should retire from the sport. Former two-division champion and UFC commentator, Daniel Cormier, however, praised ‘The All-American’ for the performance.

“I know Chris, and I’ve spoken with Chris since the fight. He did accomplish a great thing by making that walk, going through all the rehab and the ups and downs with the injury… I thought that he fought like an absolute savage,” Cormier said.
Cormier felt that it was impressive that Weidman came back after the injury. He was impressed by the intensity with which he fought Tavares. He commended the American for not quitting, despite taking serious damage to his legs. The New Orleans native felt Weidman still wants to be champion.
