It appears that Gaethje’s kick definitely sparked conversation on twitter. A fan who was worried about the outcome questioned the legitimacy of Gaethje’s kick. He voiced his concern by mentioning the twitter handle of the veteran referee. He tweeted, ” I know people think this is crazy but genuinely interested on the rules on this grey area. It appears the shin doesn’t land at all on chin of Dustin”

However, the 60-year-old gave the laydown by replying to his tweet. He had a brief yet straight explanation regarding the outcome. He quoted,  “Well the shin didn’t land on Dustin’s chin. It landed on Dustin’s arm which was driven into the head and jawline by the shin. The foot wrapping around towards the back of the head is totally legal”
