Cory Sandhagen is all set to face the returning T.J. Dillashaw at the UFC Vegas 32 event. This will be one of the most important fights of Sandhagen’s career as a victory here would almost guarantee him a title shot. ‘The Sandman’ will be very confident coming into this fight as he has convincingly won his last 2 fights.

Sandhagen is 29 years old and is often touted as one of the best bantamweight fighters in the UFC. The fighter has an impressive MMA record of (14-2) and has won 7 of his 8 UFC fights. However, today we decided to take a look at the 1 loss ‘The Sandman’ has suffered in his UFC career.

When Sandhagen faced Raphael Assuncao at the UFC 241 event, he was on a 6 fight win streak, and was on his way to a UFC title. Come to the fight, Sandhagen performed admirably and won via a unanimous decision. Then after a couple of scheduled fights for Sandhagen could not happen. He eventually faced Aljamain Sterling at the UFC 250 event.

This is where ‘The Sandman’ suffered his first UFC loss as Sterling took him down via a 1st round submission. Everyone was highly excited to see this fight, as even Sterling was coming into the fight on the back of 4 consecutive victories.

Following this victory, Sterling got a title opportunity and ultimately ended up being the UFC champion. Now Sandhagen is No.2 in the UFC rankings and would love to get a victory over Dillashaw and challenge for the title.

Cory Sandhagen and T.J. Dillashaw have had quite a relationship. Both the fighters were once friends and teammates and eventually began bitter rivals. However, both fighters respect each other and never shy away from accepting the other’s fighting talent.
