UFC analyst Ariel Helwani was the first one to break out the news, which was later confirmed by ESPN. “Most likely your new UFC Columbus main event on March 26, per sources,” Helwani captioned the post.

UFC Columbus will be the premier promotion’s first Fight Night card on the road since 2020. This will be the UFC’s first fight card in Columbus in over a decade. Apart from the heavyweight showdown, the fight card also has a possible flyweight title eliminator fight between Kai Kara-France and Askar Askarov.

Also on the fight card is a strawweight bout between Amanda Ribas and Michelle Waterson. Another interesting bout will see Bryan Barberena fight Matt Brown in front of the latter’s hometown audience.

Curtis Blaydes is currently ranked #4 on the UFC heavyweight charts. Blaydes was on a four-fight winning streak before he lost to Derrick Lewis at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs Lewis in February 2021.

The former Philadelphia police officer, Chris Daukaus, also has a kind of similar story. Daukaus was on a rampage in the heavyweight division, clinching four straight knockout victories in the promotion. However, he was stopped by Derrick Lewis at the last UFC event in 2021 in the first round of their bout.
