Brendan Schaub went on the attack against Khabib Nurmagomedov. This took place after ‘The Eagle’ threw an indirect punch at his old rival Conor McGregor in a recent interview in which he decried the quality of Ireland’s MMA fighters compared to his own compatriots. To be fair, not many countries can compete with Dagestan’s impressive ability to produce top-tier MMA fighters in recent years, but of course, Nurmagomedov was certainly pleased to single out Ireland in particular due to his bitter rivalry with ‘The Notorious.’

In an interview with the official channel of the PFL ahead of the lightweight title clash between Usman Nurmagomedov and Paul Hughes at Bellator Champions Series that pits Ireland vs. Dagestan yet again, ‘The Eagle’ questioned the quality of fighters the country is producing. Nurmagomedov then proceeded to draw a comparison between Irish and Dagestani fighters, claiming that McGregor’s home country has no potential in combat sports. This seems to have rubbed former MMA fighter-turned-comedian Brendan Schaub the wrong way, as he reminded Nurmagomedov on the Thiccc Boy podcast that while Dagestan rules the realm of wrestling, that is solely because they do not excel or even try their hands at other sports.

According to Schaub, the Republic of Russia offers “nothing else.” The main focus of the Dagestani men and children has always been on wrestling and sambo, so it’s not surprising to see so many fighters coming out of such a tiny place. However, it is quite the opposite for a country like America, where they have people excel in multiple sports. It is then that the former MMA fighter claims that the US would dominate the world if all Americans focused on was MMA.

He said, “Do you realize it would be the Dream Team versus everybody else? There, it would be no competition.” He further added, “You know what happens to a LeBron James or Antonio Brown or an insert-whatever-monster-you-want, uh, Joey Bosa, a f***** JJ Watt—you know what happens to those guys if, from four years old, they were raised to compete in MMA? Dagestan’s never had a single athlete ever that could compete in any major sport.”

Well, that is actually an interesting take shared on the podcast. Comparing the two nations seems to be the actual wrong move by Khabib Nurmagomedov, considering that Ireland is also trying to make their name in other sports such as cricket. Even Darren Till came out in defense of Ireland by stating that the country produces more MMA fighters in comparison to Russia if we look at the difference between the size of those two countries. Taking to his X account, Till wrote, “I’ve always respected Khabib and his team a lot, they are fantastic fighters. But for him to sit there and say fighters from Ireland are low level in comparison of sizes of countries and production Ireland is actually way ahead,”

He further added, “Ireland is so f*****g small and Russia is so f*****g big Ireland has produced amazing fighters over the years.” So, with the defense of Irish by the former MMA star turned comedian, does that mean that Brendan Schaub is on Conor McGregor‘s side now? Well, that seems to be the case, as he recently gave some interesting advice to the Irishman.

The world of combat sports cannot stop talking about the much-anticipated fight between Logan Paul and Conor McGregor. So, how could Brendan Schaub keep himself away from all the action? Before going off on Khabib Nurmagomedov, Schaub discussed the fight between Conor McGregor and Paul. As per the former fighter, this is a fight that McGregor fans should not be worrying about. Especially since we all are aware of the striking capabilities of the Irishman.

As a man who went toe-to-toe against Floyd Mayweather, facing Logan Paul will be a relatively easier task. However, there is only one point of contention, and that is McGregor’s attitude towards life. ‘The Notorious’ has the tendency to not take his fights seriously, and this can definitely send him underprepared into the fight. This can be the turning point that ‘The Maverick’ needs to surprise every fan watching the fight.

Brendan Schaub said, “My only concern too is if Conor doesn’t take this seriously, you know, kind of moseys in, he’s partying—you know, I think he’d get f****d up. I think if he’s not on it, he’d get f-cked up. That’s what’s interesting to me now.” He further added, “If it’s Prime Conor, like the one that beat Diego Brandao or beat Eddie Alvarez or that beat, you know, Nate Diaz, he shows up for that, Logan might get pieced up. Should, but I don’t know if that version might be gone.” What do you think? Will Conor McGregor make sure to take Schaub’s word seriously? Or will it be a nightmare appearance for the Irishman? Let us know in the comments.
