Many UFC contenders have ventured out of the fight promotion and explored their chances at other professions. Top-tier fighters, like Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey, have turned to Hollywood, while some others, like Jorge Masvidal, have turned to business. Furthermore, Chris Daukaus got into the UFC after serving in the Police. However, there is only one fighter who went into the police academy after retiring from the UFC. He is none other than Jimmie ‘El Terror’ Rivera. A post recently got viral on social media as the MMA reporter, Alex Behunin, revealed that ‘El Terror’ graduated from the police academy. Without a doubt, many fans applauded the news.
Rivera was previously spotted at Tiger Schulmann’s Martial Arts, Elmwood Park, training the police. He demonstrated his grappling skills and taught the police how to defend themselves while they were on the ground.

Recently, Behunin took to Twitter and shared the news of ‘El Terror’ graduating and becoming a police officer. He shared a picture of the former UFC fighter in a police uniform. He captioned, “Former UFC fighter Jimmie Rivera graduated from the police academy.”
Without a doubt, the UFC fans took to the comments section and revealed their opinion. Furthermore, some of the fans provided support to the former fighter. However, the shock the fans felt was indeed one that overwhelmed the comments. The fans felt the law enforcement would be better with a trained martial artist as a cop.

Although becoming a cop after competing in the UFC and BKFC is quite uncommon, many of the fans thought the transition to be worthwhile. Moreover, Rivera was previously associated with demonstrating self-defense to the police.
Jimmie Rivera’s lessons to the police

Rivera’s journey into the police uniform probably began a couple of years ago. Back in 2020, he taught two dozen policemen how to defend themselves while lying on the ground. He instructed, “When someone knocks us down, we go to the hips for control. Keep your hips nice and loose. Use your feet! Extend your legs for power and push him off!”
Furthermore, Rivera believed that when the police would stop resorting to guns and learned to defend themselves without it, their confidence would go sky-high. “The biggest thing is solving a situation without using deadly force”, said the fighter.
