Last year, MMA fans were left disappointed when their dream of witnessing the biggest heavyweight fight in history was dashed. Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou left the organization due to contract issues, making the fight with Jon Jones, another legendary figure within the UFC, impossible. Although the potential matchup has remained on hold, it was recently reignited by boxing star Jake Paul during a press conference at a PFL event.
During the event, when asked by the host about his thoughts on Jon Jones fighting the winner of the PFL heavyweight title bout between Francis Ngannou and Renan Ferreira, scheduled for October 19, Jake Paul took the opportunity to criticize Dana White, with whom he has a history. Paul said, “ Well, I think Dana is scared to make it happen. I think he doesn’t want to lose his horse in Jon Jones. I love Jon Jones, but that’s too much of a risk for Dana to take.”
Furthermore, Paul targeted White’s public affection for Jones, saying, “ Francis is one of the baddest men on the planet, so I think Dana is scared. He doesn’t want that to happen. MMA fans want that fight; doesn’t every fan want that?” MMA fans in the arena shouted their approval in response.

Jake Paul and Dana White are known for their mutual dislike, which came to light when Paul claimed White tried to have him assassinated. Later, after Paul defeated bare-knuckle fighting champion Mike Perry in a boxing match, he called out UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. Pereira responded with a FaceTime call and accepted the challenge. Subsequently, Dana White criticized Paul, claiming that Jake Paul was simply seeking attention.
Dana White on Jake Paul vs. Alex Pereira
In a short time, Alex Pereira has become the UFC’s new face, eclipsing even Conor McGregor, as evidenced by his frequent appearances. This highlights how much Dana White relies on him for the success of his PPV events. Recently, at UFC 303, Pereira stepped in against Jiri Rochazka, saving Dana White when McGregor had to pull out of his fight against Michael Chandler.
