Why? Well, the top brass of the promotion had a condition for Mokaev for the extension of the contract. According to Oscar Wilis, “Mokaev also says the UFC told him before this fight they might not resign him if he continues fighting a wrestle-heavy style.” The British fighter further explained, “They said they’re gonna see how I perform, they don’t want me to keep shooting and taking people down.” A finish against Manel Kape could have helped Mokaev to get past the whip of resignation, however, the reality was a bit different.

The UFC Supremo straight out stated that they are not going to add Mokaev to the roster again, “He’s not under contract anymore. I think the PFL is going to get a great, undefeated guy. Good luck to him,” said Dana White.

Just a day after his win against Manel Kape at UFC 304, Dana White and the promotion have come forward to remove the fighter from the UFC rankings. The promotion wasted no time and issued a circular that stated, ” To all panelists: Please note that Muhammad Mokaev has been removed from ranking eligibility. He has completed the last fight on his contract and will not be re-signed.” This announcement came at a time when White was completely disappointed with the UFC Manchester event. Regardless, the MMA community appears to have a bit of diverse opinion about Mokaev’s cutting.

The negotiations seem to have worked against the British-Dagestani fighter. It must be noted that the promotion’s relationship with the fighter went downhill after the talks of another contract came through. Interestingly, Colby Covington’s assessment came true. Which assessment? Well, the welterweight contender was on the brink of being removed from the roster back in 2019 due to the fact that he was providing enough entertainment for the promotion, however, as soon as he changed his demeanor, everything changed for him. Regardless, a fan asked a question to Mokaev.

Muhammad Mokaev might have won most of his fights under the promotion by way of finish but it must be noted that he was not riding enough PPV sales. This propelled Dana White to turn his face against the British-Dagestani fighter.

Furthermore, a social media fan believes that the promotion did the right thing by removing  Mokaev.

Muhammad Mokaev is now a free agent, and where he wants to go is his decision. A social media fan emphasized that ‘The Punisher’ is young and he should go to either PFL or ONE Championship.

Last but not least, a rather disappointed fan explained that the promotion was going to regret their decision.

Dana White and the promotion have been in a mood to cut loose those fighters who don’t generate any relevance to them. What’s your take on the hubbub? State your thoughts in the comments below.
