Dana White spoke to Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso on a wide variety of topics recently. The long-time boss of the organization had plenty to say about their megastar, Conor McGregor. The two have had a rather ugly public falling out that even saw private messages being leaked.

The contention stems from McGregor’s claims that White and the UFC brass haven’t been offering him lucrative match-ups. Not to mention, the Irishman felt like his reputation of never avoiding fights was being slandered by Dana White. The UFC President wasn’t having any of that, and the two have been on thin ice ever since.

White looked at the aforementioned discourse between the two as a collective when reviewing the situation. Dana went on to hint at the fact that Conor was using his massive platform to steer attention away from other rising stars.

The claim seems plausible, especially when considering the timing of McGregor’s ‘antics’ from White’s view.

“This was a weird one. This was weirder and different than anything he’s done before. There’s almost a pattern here. When we’re about to do a massive fight—and Israel Adesanya broke a ton of records last week in a global, massive fight—the day before that fight, he starts announcing he’s going to fight this guy and that guy. It’s almost like stealing Adesanya’s thunder. But he does it every time there’s a big fight.”

Israel Adesanya has paved his own way in the company, and there is nothing that can slow The Last Stylebender down. McGregor commands the headlines unapologetically, and a single tweet has the power to make everything else in the MMA world seem inadequate.

What’s more, his recent statement alleging foul play against White undoubtedly was the talk of the town.

The relationship between Dana and Conor McGregor seems icy at best. One would imagine that Conor McGregor isn’t going to take too kindly to White’s latest remarks. Time will be the only indication as to the fall-out of the aforementioned speculatory accusations and the relationship between McGregor and White.
