As UFC 307 looms large, the excitement is palpable, especially with Conor McGregor adding his two cents to the debate. The main event for the night? Pereira has been on a tear with 4-straight wins under his belt. ‘The War Horse’ is also riding the momentum of a 5-fight win streak coming into this matchup.  But there’s more to this story. Conor McGregor has bigger visions for Pereira and has put Dana White and Jon Jones on notice for a potential ‘super fight’ with the heavyweight crown on the line!

Conor McGregor puts Jon Jones on alert as he makes a bold prediction for Alex Pereira at UFC 307

In a recent post shared on Instagram by Championship Rounds, Conor McGregor delivered an intriguing analysis of the matchup between ‘Poatan’ and ‘The War Horse’. The Irishman stated, “A lot of unanswered question still about Khalil but he is a nasty operator for sure. Pereira looked slightly drawn on the scale. It’s either man’s win imo.”

While he pointed out that Pereira looked a little weaker at the weigh-ins, he isn’t ready to count him out yet! The reason? McGregor stated, “I lean Pereira, on form, big, accurate powerful.” If you’ve seen Pereira fight, you know he doesn’t just land punches—he delivers sledgehammers. But is that enough? ‘The Notorious’ further shared, “But Khalil has characteristics that could cause major danger! Man, it’s a tough one. Something tells me this will be a test!”

But McGregor didn’t stop there. For a while, there have been rumblings about Pereira pursuing a record-breaking heavyweight clash against Jon Jones.

According to the former ‘champ-champ’, “Pereira is just about ready for heavyweight now imo. Him vs Jones would be amazing to watch! A chance to go 3 weight.” However, despite the alert for Dana White and Jon Jones to watch out for Pereira’s campaign for a third title, McGregor still acknowledged the uncertainty of the UFC 307 main event’s outcome. The Octagon is a place where nothing is set in stone and even the best-laid plans can crumble in an instant!

So where does that leave us? Conor McGregor’s breakdown has only fueled the fire. But Alex Pereira has already got a plan in mind for his third defense of his light-heavyweight crown and a chance to set another record in the UFC!

‘Poatan’ on the threshold of a record-breaking win against Khalil Rountree

Alex Pereira will be headlining his third event of 2024 when he steps into the cage at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. A win over Khalil Rountree Jr. won’t just solidify his dominance—it will make him the fastest fighter to defend a UFC title three times in just 175 days. That’s a feat that only six other fighters have achieved in a calendar year. Will Pereira become the seventh and the fastest to do so?

Speaking to UFC.com, ‘Poatan’ indicated that he’s not overlooking Rountree despite him being ranked no.8 in the division. The Brazilian explained, “It’s a dangerous fight; everyone knows what he’s capable of, but it’s a fight that closely resembles my style. He’s an aggressive fighter, and I prefer facing someone aggressive rather than a more timid opponent. For me, that’s beneficial. I’ve analyzed some of his techniques. That’s basically it.”

As fight night approaches, the question lingers: can Pereira add another notch to his belt? Khalil Rountree, the underdog, is no stranger to surprises. But Pereira has faced and overcome bigger challenges before. Will this fight be another day at the office for ‘Poatan’ or does Rountree have the potential to pull off a stunning upset?
