‘The Notorious‘ returns later this month, as he fights in the lightweight division for the first time since his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. The former two-division champion is looking to get another shot at Nurmagomedov’s throne. And so is Dustin Poirier.

‘The Diamond’ was defeated by ‘The Eagle’ at UFC 242. He has since returned to winning ways winning a 5 round war against Dan Hooker last year.

McGregor on the other hand demolished Donald Cerrone in 40 seconds at UFC 246, in 2020. He is looking to dismantle Poirier once again, as he knocked out the Louisiana native within 2 minutes in their first meeting in 2014, at UFC 178.

The champion Nurmagomedov announced retirement at UFC 254 after submitting Justin Gaethje and defending his gold subsequently. But he is set to meet Dana White later this month in Abu Dhabi and is expected to announce a clear decision on his fighting future.

But with the recent announcement by the UFC President, the stakes for the main event at UFC 257 have risen through the roofs. Both fighters have championship aspirations at the moment. And the UFC has given them the perfect stipulation ahead of the bout.

Conor McGregor is as motivated as ever

The Irishman is focused and hungry yet again. Many believed McGregor’s best days as a fighter is behind him after all the fame and success he had achieved. His performance against Nurmagomedov was indicative of that too.
