Jack Della Maddalena has wasted no time, as he wants to know who he fights next. For starters, Islam Makhachev has already said that it’s time for him to make the move up to the welterweight division and become a double champion. But is that what Dana White wants next for Della Maddalena? Well, the champion hit up the CEO on the phone, along with Hunter Campbell, and dropped the all-important question to the matchmaking team.
The UFC 315 main event was a great one, with Jack Della Maddalena proving his status as one of the most dangerous and precise strikers in the entire promotion. Despite Belal Muhammad’s confidence heading into the fight, the Aussie star dismantled him, hurt him, and even gave him a nasty cut on his upper lip. At the end of the fight, fans exploded in the Bell Center when they heard “and new.” And this win was pivotal for Makhachev’s future too.
Immediately, Islam Makhachev sent a tweet, claiming that it’s “time to become a double champion.” And, as we all know, Jack Della Maddalena is looking to avenge his friend and compatriot, Alexander Volkanovski‘s loss a couple of years ago in Australia. And Della Maddalena has welcomed the challenge but is hoping to do it in his backyard in Perth, Western Australia.

“Makhachev’s next right, in Perth?” That’s what Jack Della Maddalena asked his employer about potentially fighting the lightweight champion when the UFC visits Australia later in 2025. However, nothing’s a done deal at the moment, as Dana White replied, “We’ll get this figured out.”
Well, Dana White already mentioned the UFC 315 implications of Islam Makhachev’s next fight. He could have been paired up with Ilia Topuria for his next title defense. But in the wake of Jack Della Maddalena’s win, the fans are heavily leaning towards the idea that they will get to see Makhachev fight for the second belt. However, we’ll have to wait for Dana White on that one.

Jack Della Maddalena’s defiant response to Islam Makhachev’s message
Alexander Volkanovski, whom Islam Makhachev likes to call the “short guy,” was one of two fighters who took the lightweight champion to his limit (the other one being Dustin Poirier). It was a surprise to many people as a featherweight fighter gave Makhachev a run for his money. The Dagestan native developed a huge amount of respect for Volkanovski after their UFC 284 encounter. Meanwhile, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s protégé claims that Jack Della Maddalena was nowhere near ‘The Great’s level.
“You are not Volk I will show you different level. Keep my belt clean,” said Islam Makhachev after Jack Della Maddalena’s win. Guess what? The Aussie star is not one to back down from a confrontation, at least verbally, and seemed unfazed about the lightweight champion’s warning. “Come and get it, come get it,” Maddalena stated in the post-fight presser.
