Jorge Masvidal returns to the octagon at UFC 269 on December 11, 2021. He will go up against the #3 ranked welterweight Leon Edwards. Fans have been asking for this fight ever since both men had an altercation backstage in 2019.

Ever since the altercation, both fighters have taken digs at each other. UFC has tried to make the fight happen in the past, but because of one reason or the other, it didn’t materialize. It is finally happening now, and recently, in the buildup to the fight, Edwards was at The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. During the interview, he addressed the altercation and said that the UFC hid Masvidal after he punched him.

Gamebred’ recently was on The MMA Hour and clapped back at the claims that Edwards made. Replying to the statements, he said, “I didn’t leave England for another two days because I didn’t have my passport. I’m actually gonna put these documents up, so Dana can expose this f**king coward. The embassy in England had to do me a passport, and it couldn’t be done immediately, so I had to wait two days in England. So, I have that (paperwork) with me, and I’ll be putting it up just to remind this guy, you’re a f**cking idiot.”

Masvidal added, “What do you think you are, James Bond, that I’m gonna f**cking strike you and now have to leave England?”

Talking about the whole backstage issue, Masvidal said that he cut him off during his interview. He also called Edwards a coward and said, “He originally wanted to call the cops, but what would’ve happened? That wouldn’t have looked good for his brand and ‘I’m such a tough guy thing that he’s trying to proclaim.’ Originally they wanted to press charges on me.”

Both fighters are not fans of each other, and they have made that pretty clear. Edwards, in a recent interview, said, “This is not just a fight, this is a war, and I’m coming for him.”

The altercation that started the rivalry happened at UFC Fight Night 147, where Masvidal was in the main event. He won the ‘Performance of the Night’ and the ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus. Edwards was also on the same card that night. After the event, while ‘Gamebred’ was in an interview, ‘Rocky’ made a nasty comment. This led to the former approaching him and giving the three-piece and soda to Edwards.
