Chael Sonnen earlier took to social media to let the world know about Garry’s tense situation. It would appear that he’s out of the UFC 296 bout due to medical issues, which are not quite clear just yet. But there’s more; unfortunately, it’s not just him who’s sick.

“Guys, Ian Garry is out,” Sonnen started. “Where should we begin? I suppose this is the part where we all begin weighing in . . . I must tell you it does appear to be very legitimate. He was at a hospital himself, he was not feeling well. And he’s taken his child to the hospital right now. At the ER. The child has the same symptoms that he had. That is the way that this is being told.”

It would appear the Garry family is going through a lot more than just public shaming right now. Even Dana White has taken to his social media to confirm the match is off.

He took to his X account to address the issue too. “Hi guys, I know it’s out that there’s some speculation that Ian Garry and Luque is off and it’s true, it is. Ian Garry started with the flu that turned into pneumonia. So that fight is off and is not happening. It is true.” So even Luque won’t be showing up inside the cage at UFC 296. Will this be the last of the cancellations? Lately, UFC’s pay-per-views have been plagued with last-minute pull-outs. The history has been troubling.

The UFC’s many pullouts

Pay-per-views are a big deal. So when fighters pull out and entire cards get canceled, it’s clearly a big hit to the numbers. Not to mention the many fans that are left disappointed. So far, UFC 294 and 295 have seen major pullouts from big names. This includes none other than heavyweight GOAT Jon Jones.

Meanwhile, at UFC 294, Charles Oliveira and Paulo Costa pulled out of their bouts, thus endangering both the co-main event and the main event. Thankfully, Kamaru Usman and Alexander Volkanovski stepped up at the right moment to help keep up the hype. Now, UFC 296 too has shown a big cancellation. Will we see any more?
