In the world of mixed martial arts, few fighters have achieved the status that UFC superstar Conor McGregor holds today. He started his journey with nothing but his explosive fighting skills and trash-talking persona. This Dublin native soon succeeded in spreading his charm all over the globe, bringing attention to a sport that had never shone as brightly as MMA, making the UFC a household name.

This sentiment was recently echoed by UFC president Dana White, who took credit for introducing Conor McGregor from Ireland to America. With his marketing expertise, he was able to elevate the version of the Irishman we see today. While speaking on ‘Outta Pocket with RGIII’ on YouTube, White praised both his and McGregor’s promotional skills when the host mentioned him as the best example of Dana White’s marketing prowess.

“Yeah, and the great thing about Conor is that everybody thinks they’re Irish,” White continued. “You know what I mean? When you think about St. Patrick’s Day, all over the world, everybody thinks they’re Irish. The Irish thing is actually really powerful. And you know, obviously, his personality, his charisma, and he beat the guys he needed to beat to become successful. Yeah, so when you… you’ll f***… he’s like a, you know, he’s like a unicorn.”

Indeed, Dana White makes a valid point. While Conor McGregor was born and raised in Ireland, his surname ‘McGregor‘ actually has roots in Scottish culture, stemming from migration long ago from Scotland to Ireland. However, regardless of Irishman’s heritage, he is now set to run for election in Ireland soon!

McGregor aiming for Ireland’s Presidency!

Last year, Conor McGregor was in the spotlight more for his controversies than for his fight game, especially regarding his struggles with the Irish government. This followed an incident where a foreign national from Algeria stabbed three children, prompting Mystic Mac to launch a full-fledged attack on the Irish government for granting asylum to foreigners.

He took to social media, which allegedly led to riots in different parts of the country that the government and investigative authorities directly blamed on him. Conor McGregor denied all allegations, accusing the Irish government of making him a “scapegoat.” Since then, he has vowed to become president and fix his country, announcing his intention to run in the upcoming presidential election in Ireland next year.

Conor McGregor earlier this month confirmed this on X, where he stated, “The people of Ireland deserve the answers they seek. Point blank. This would be my power as president. I know very well that Ireland needs an active President employed wholly by the people of Ireland. It is me. I am the only logical choice. 2025 is upcoming…”
