In October, the UFC decided to part ways with a few fighters, including former main event fighter Andre Muniz and ‘Russian Ronda’, Irina Alekseeva. But it seems like Dana White and Co. are not yet done shaking up the roster, because they just went on another releasing spree. As we approach the big-time UFC 322 PPV at Madison Square Garden, reports have surfaced that three UFC fighters from multiple men’s divisions are no longer in the promotion.

Dana White recently wrapped up the ninth season of the Contender Series. This season saw the CEO offering contracts to more than forty new fighters. That’s a lot, but the consensus is that the UFC is trying to make room for more signings, and that’s why they are letting go of fighters who have had underwhelming performances inside the Octagon.

Dana White drops 3 more fighters from the UFC roster
It was just a matter of time before Dana White showed Rolando Bedoya the door. ‘The Machine’ failed to win a fight under the UFC banner, departing the promotion with a 4-fight losing streak to his name, according to ‘UFC Roster Watch’ on X. Moving on to the next name on the released list is Quang Le, who could only win one fight while losing three. The pattern is clear in these fighters’ records. Your first three to four fights in the promotion are crucial to having a longer career in the UFC.
However, when it comes to the final name on the list, there could be a bit of confusion as to why he was released. Yanal Ashmouz, in his 4 UFC fights, has a 2-2 record, which is better than the two aforementioned fighters. While some fans could say that he deserved another chance, Dana White and Co. have made up their minds that he doesn’t.

Meanwhile, there are other fighters in the promotion who have had more losses than the three recently released fighters, but are still under contract with the UFC. Tai Tuivasa is one name that comes to mind, who’s on a 5-fight losing streak and hasn’t fought since UFC 305. We can’t be too sure about what the criteria for getting released are in the UFC. Moreover, Dana White recently released a different heavyweight fighter who won his last fight.

UFC released a heavyweight fighter despite winning at UFC 321
UFC 321 was the best night for Hamdy Abdelwahab. He fought Chris Barnett in what many say was a boring fight. But he saw through the fight, dominating his opponent on the ground, and won. However, that win wasn’t enough for Dana White and the rest of the matchmaking team to keep him around because if there’s one thing the CEO really hates, it is boring fights. And so, Abdelwahab was released.
Later, Valter Walker, who also earned a win at UFC 321, would take a jibe at Hamdy Abdelwahab’s performance and would challenge him to a fight. Unfortunately, we won’t be getting that heavyweight clash, but Walker need not worry because he’s got Josh Hokit calling him out. Nevertheless, it would have been interesting to see how far Abdelwahab would have gone in the UFC since he departed the promotion with a 2-2 record.
2025 is still not over, and over the next few weeks, we might get some more news on fighter cuts. On the flip side, it would be interesting to see who Dana White signs next after clearing the roster. Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
