Conor McGregor reveals on his UFC journey ahead

The last time Conor McGregor stepped inside the Octagon was back in 2021 when he fought against Dustin Poirier. Their clash ended with a career-threatening injury for ‘Mystic Mac’ as he broke his shin completely and had to be escorted in a stretcher. That injury forced ‘The Notorious’ to take a break from the world of fighting for almost 2 years, followed by another year of rigorous drug testing. Regardless, the biggest star of the promotion is back, and seems like he is planning on not stopping anytime soon.

However, we know that McGregor has only two fights left on his UFC contract. After the Chandler fight, there might be no fights for the former champ as most of the lightweight fighters are currently preoccupied. Well, McGregor knows it but he has his own plans for his career. While in a live session with ‘Duelbits’, McGregor was asked by a fan about his future plans and the former champ answered the question with modesty as he stated that he is not planning on stopping.

“Straight away, I will be back in September. The Sphere is going on, and Mexican Independence Day—you know what I’m looking for. I’m looking for opponents for that. I would love the Diaz trilogy for that. I have said it publicly. Diaz and Masvidal are fighting in a boxing bout. I’m looking for opponents,” said McGregor

He further emphasized that he is planning on fighting thrice this year even though he has only two fights on his contract. “June 29th, September 5th (Mexican Independence Day), and then December. Three bouts this year. Now, I say this because, God willing…” I have two fights left in my UFC contract. I’m currently in the negotiations stage with the UFC let’s see what happens.”

Nonetheless, McGregor has already set out his plans for the future, interestingly the former dual-weight champion might be looking at a clash against the current welterweight champion Leon Edwards.

‘Mystic Mac’ vs. ‘Rocky’ in the future?

Conor Mcgregor was the first fighter in the history of the promotion to have won two titles at the same time. He held the featherweight and the lightweight title back in 2016. However, later he had to relinquish the title due to inactivity. Nonetheless, McGregor started something that was never heard before and now it seems like he is going for the triple champ status.

Down in the conversation, McGregor expressed his excitement when he talked about the welterweight title. “I’d be excited about the ‘Bad Motherf**ker’ title and I’d be excited about the welterweight title, but we’ll see what happens. I take things as they come. There should be a McGregor belt or some sort of money belt or something. I don’t know. UFC needs to come up with one for me because all of these things were created off of the back of me,” said McGregor.

Nonetheless, even Leon Edwards is ok with facing McGregor.“100%, why not? Let’s give him an opportunity to become a three-division world champion. Give me an opportunity to take out a guy like Conor McGregor,” said Edwards when asked about fighting McGregor. Will ‘Mystic Mac’ fight ‘Rocky’ in the future? Only time will tell.
