Conside͏ring that t͏he flywei͏ght division h͏as too many co͏ntenders. The anticipa͏tion for the fight was nea͏r to no͏ne, but Dana White surp͏͏ri͏͏sed ͏everyone by giving ͏’Astr͏oboy’ a chance ͏a͏t the gold run. The decision by White to give Erce͏g a chance for the title run has raised suspicion among fans regarding the methods used by the UFC CEO to choose the contender.

To put it into perspective, Steve Erceg has never asked for a title fight. Additionally, the Australian has only had three fights under the UFC. Giving him a title run does not sit well with UFC fans. Why, you ask? Because a man has been with the UFC since 2016 and has been demanding a title shot for years. Belal Muhammad has been demanding a title shot for a long time, but there’s hardly been any response from the UFC to his demands.

Muhammad is riding a nine-fight winning streak under the promotion and according to some in the MMA community there’s hardly any other fighter more deserving of the title fight than him. To give you another interesting statistic, Erceg debuted in the UFC just one month after Muhammad’s last fight against Gilbert Burns.

There were talks that Muhammad might get a shot at the title during UFC Manchester against Leon Edwards but nothing has been confirmed yet and there’s a high probability that Dana White might not let that happen. This sorry state of the welterweight fighter caught the attention of the MMA community who had a split reaction for Belal Muhammad.

Fans are divided as Bellal Muhammad might miss the title run chance again

The last time Belal Muhammad and Leon Edwards faced each other, the fight had to be called off due to an accidental eye poke by Edwards to Muhammad. Their fight ended in a no-contest and since then Muhammad has been calling out Edwards for a fight. After years of waiting, team Edwards finally came forward to state that their bout is 99.99% finalized and is set to happen at UFC Manchester, however, UFC insider Chael Sonnen mocked the claim and stated that there are still some doubts about it.

Starting off, a fan endorsed that it was time for the UFC to give Muhammad a title shot, and as we noted above, for good reason!

“Just give the title shot to Belal so we can move on, its getting sad atp”

Steve Erceg, Colby Covington, and many more fighters got a chance at the title irrespective of their weight class way before Muhammad and the fans can see that the UFC’s disrespect towards the fighter is getting out of hand now.

“Not the biggest Belal fan, but what they’re doing to him is disgusting”

Nonetheless, according to some fans, Muhammad is not getting the title shot because of his fighting style which always ends up in a unanimous decision. Erceg’s last fight was a knockout victory for him, while on the other hand, Muhammad struggled against a broken hand Gilbert Burns.
