If anyone has more respect for welterweight sensation, Khamzat Chimaev, after his war against Gilbert Burns at UFC 273, it is UFC President Dana White.

The Chechen-born Swede fought welterweight #2 Burns, a huge jump in competition compared to his last competitor Li Jingliang. However, for the first time, fans witnessed how the mystery that is Khamzat Chimaev really fares against a top 5 fighter. And one thing they realized was that ‘Borz’ was not invincible, leading fans to believe that Chimaev wasn’t as good as they thought he was.

Meanwhile, UFC President Dana White contradicted the opinions of Chimaev hype detractors and clarified that he is the real deal and that struggling against one of the greatest fighters in his division is not something Chimaev should be ashamed of.

“Well, he’s human. I mean any a**hole that said that doesn’t think the kid’s human. He’s a human being, and he just beat the No. 2 welterweight in the world in the UFC with a couple of fights in the UFC. If you don’t think he’s the real deal, you’re out of your mind.”

Khamzat Chimaev is ready for Colby Covington

UFC President Dana White announced prior to UFC 273 that Khamzat Chimaev will fight former interim UFC welterweight champion, Colby Covington, if he wins over Gilbert Burns.

Now, as the Chechen-born Swede has done the pre-requisite for the Covington fight, it was important to address the Elephant in the room and ask the man himself what he feels about the fight.

In a post-fight interview with BT Sports, Chimaev told the media house that he is totally ready for the fight and will be aiming to knock out his opponent.
