UFC President Dana White made the media rounds ahead of UFC 258 on February 13, 2021, and spoke to Complex. The aforementioned pay-per-view but sees a welterweight title fight headliner between Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns. The two were teammates and have spent countless hours sparring with each other and getting the other ready for huge fights.

However, true to form, Complex managed to get in some fun-filled contemporary questions that got the boss thinking. White was asked to share his views on entertaining a 1 v 1 basketball match between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Daniel Cormier. The two UFC stars are recently retired fighters, however, they come in with massive profiles.

Dana White to entertain Khabib vs Cormier on the court

The long-time boss was surprisingly receptive to the idea of having the AKA teammates go at it on the court. Khabib Nurmagomedov and Daniel Cormier are amongst two of White’s favorite personalities in the UFC as it stands. Additionally, he also playfully ripped on Cormier with whom he had a back and forth during the NFL season.

“I like that, DC vs Khabib at basketball. These are two guys whom I have a lot of respect for as athletes and as people. And you know what a ba*l buster Cormier is. It was actually really nice to slap the sh*t out of him with this Super Bowl win with Brady cause all he did was talk sh*t about New Orleans non-stop.”

“We gotta do that, we gotta set it up [1 v 1 basketball game]. You got a good idea, 1 on 1 Khabib vs Cormier, and I’ll put up like 10 grand to the winner. Bragging rights is all either one of them are gonna want, 10 grand makes it a little more fun.”

There’s no doubt that there would plenty of interest invested in a Nurmagomedov and Cormier 1 V 1 battle. Both men are fiercely competitive in all facets of their life, and UFC fans would love to see them test themselves in a comprehensive manner. With White willing to co-sign the event, there’s a strong possibility that fans will be able to see a contest they didn’t know they wanted.
