Jorge Masvidal needs some serious boost in his career now to get back in the race among other UFC fighters. ‘The Gamebred’ has lost the last three fights in a row since 2020 and has been away from the octagon for around 9 months now.

On top of that, Masvidal has turned down Michael Chandler‘s call-out for the next BMF shot. Responding to the situation, Daniel Cormier responds to the predicament by advising Masvidal to reevaluate the fight since it could be his best chance to achieve his real objective—getting another shot at the welterweight belt.

Masvidal has declined the Michael Chandler fight saying that it does not bring much to the table. However, Daniel Cormier says otherwise.

Jorge Masvidal is advised to reconsider

In his recent video, Daniel Cormier discussed Jorge Masvidal turning down the Michael Chandler fight due to the lack of potential. However, DC believes that Masvidal should reconsider the fight and look at it from a different perspective. Talking about ‘The Gamebred’, DC stated that lately, it has been quite rough for Jorge Masvidal. And in his pursuit of aiming for the welterweight title shot, he must climb the ladder step by step.

“It’s been pretty tough setting for Jorge Masvidal. The dude’s been losing to fighters over and over, but he’s fighting the best in the world. He’s not fighting scrones.” said Cormier, reflecting on Masvidal‘s last few fights in the UFC. However, DC feels, if he takes up the Michael Chandler fight, he might as well get another title shot at welterweight from Dana White.

“I think he needs to realize that there’s more value in the Chandler fight than he believes. Because it might just get him closer to what he wants. And that’s another shot at the welterweight championship. But the first thing you got to do is find a way to get on that card. And if no one else is available, that guy in Tennessee (Michael Chandler) would step up right away.” stated Cormier, suggesting Masvidal reconsider his decision.

DC sells the Chandler fight to Masvidal

Jorge Masvidal turned down the Michael Chandler fight, calling him a ‘quitter’. However, Daniel Cormier is trying to help ‘The Gamebred’ to look at it from a different perspective since Chandler is a hot topic at present. When talking about Michael Chandler, DC stated, “Not only he’s viable, he’s the most exciting fighters in the world. Because in that fight with Will Brooks, he goes, ‘ you know what? Tonight’s not my night. I chose to fight another day.’ What’s wrong with that?”

DC further added, “Chandler has been more present recently, and he’s on people’s mind more than Masvidal right now because of the things that he’s done in the short time he’s been here.”

Lastly, Cormier claimed that Michael Chandler might just be the next best thing for Jorge Masvidal and his goal. “I think this may be his next best option to try to get to where he’s going,” concluded DC.
