Dana White Not Sure Which Tony Ferguson is Going To Show Up

The UFC 262 co-main event will feature an intriguing lightweight clash between Tony Ferguson and Beneil Dariush. Ahead of the bout, UFC President Dana White shared his point of view on Tony Ferguson.

‘El Cucuy’ is making his 2021 debut inside the octagon after suffering two consecutive losses against Justin Gaethje at UFC 249 and Charles Oliveira at UFC 256. Both the fights took place in 2020. Before that, Ferguson was on a 12-fight win streak from 2013 to 2019. It’s safe to say that ‘El Cucuy’ didn’t have a great 2020 as his win streak ended.

After having a bad year, ‘El Cucuy’ is looking to bounce back at UFC 262. In a recent interview, when UFC President Dana White was asked about the same, he gave a fitting reply.

Dana White said, “A big fight for him, man, and you know this is, you know. A huge fan favorite. If he comes in and he performs, he’ll be right back on top of the game. We just gotta see which Tony Ferguson shows up.”

Tony Ferguson: The start and end of his 12-fight win streak

When ‘El Cucuy’ was on his 12-fight win streak, he won 9 of them via finishes (6 Submissions and 3 T/KOs). His win streak started when he faced Mike Rio at UFC 166 on October 19, 2013. It only took 1:52 minutes for ‘El Cucuy’ to defeat Rio via submission (Brabo choke) in the first round. He also received the ‘Submission of the Night’ bonus.

Then Ferguson went on defeating many elite MMA athletes. He holds notable victories against elite MMA athletes such as Edson Barboza, Rafael dos Anjos, Anthony Pettis, and more.

Later, Ferguson clashed against the UFC veteran Donald Cerrone. The pair locked horns at UFC 238 on June 8, 2019. ‘El Cucuy’ defeated ‘Cowboy’ via TKO in the second round. This victory marked the 12th victory of his 12-fight win streak.

After that, Ferguson made his 2020 debut inside the octagon against Justin Gaethje. They clashed for the interim UFC Lightweight Championship Title at UFC 249 on May 9, 2020. ‘El Cucuy’ aimed to extend his win streak. However, Gaethje defeated Ferguson via TKO in the fifth round. This loss marked the end of Ferguson’s 12-fight win streak.
