Dana White Planning Buster Fight Between Michael Chandler and Justin Gaethje

The UFC lightweight division is the most competitive and interesting division in the UFC. Many incredible fighters like Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje, and Michael Chandler compete in that division. Recently at the UFC 262 event, many changes in the lightweight divisions took place simultaneously.

At the UFC 262 event, Michael Chandler faced Charles Oliveira for the UFC lightweight title. Oliveira won that fight after he knocked Chandler out in the second round of the fight. Since then, people from all over the world have been speculating about who Chandler might face next.

Recently Dana White was asked about what he thinks is next for Michael Chandler. The UFC President replied, “Yeah, That’s a good question. I mean, and there are a few options you know, there are a few opportunities. He could fight Gaethje, we’ll see. We don’t have anything done yet, but that makes sense and that’d be a fun fight.”

A fight with Gaethje would be great for ‘Iron’ as Gaethje is a former interim UFC lightweight champion and is currently ranked No.2 in the FC lightweight rankings. Gaethje last fought in the UFC against Khabib Nurmagomedov at the UFC 254 event. ‘The Highlight’ lost that fight in the second round via technical submission.

Therefore, a fight between Chandler and Gaethje would be incredible as both fighters would look to bounce back from their losses.

Will a fight between Michael Chandler and Justin Gaethje actually happen?

Even before Dana White had talked about a potential fight between Gaethje and Chandler, many people believed this fight was going to happen soon.

As Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier will face each other and the winner of that match might challenge for the title. While Tony Ferguson after his recent loss must face some lower-ranked opponents before he can get back into the top tier.

That left Chandler and Ferguson as potential opponents for each other. The one person who could come into the picture is Beneil Dariush as after defeating Ferguson he is now ranked No.3 in the UFC rankings.

Whether a fight between Chandler and Gaethje happens, we do not know. However, if it does, it will surely be a treat for fans to watch.
