Who knew that the most recent UFC 296 presser would become a battle of the Seans? Sean Strickland and Sean O’Malley went at it in the press conference, taking big shots at each other’s private lives. And all Dana White could do was try to run away from the conversation.

And who can blame him? ‘Tarzan’ is becoming increasingly outspoken about other fighters’ private lives, especially their wives. First, it was Ian Garry and now it’s the UFC bantamweight champion. But ‘Suga’ wasn’t without his weapons, either.

Sean O’Malley and Sean Strickland go off on each other

Sean O’Malley may just have caught a stray bullet when Sean Strickland tried backing up Marlon Vera, O’Malley’s next opponent. It is now very public that ‘Suga’ is in an open relationship with his wife, and Strickland didn’t think twice before involving her in the conversation.

An awkward and uncomfortable Alexander Volkanovski just sat between the quarreling two and had a pleasant laugh before Dana White tried to divert the press’ attention to asking good questions once again. “Is there another question?” The UFC boss too had an awkward laugh as a wave of relief came through in the form of another question for another fighter instead. Do you think the UFC trash talk is getting more and more about fighters’ personal lives?

It seems to be quite the trend. In fact, even after dropping out of his UFC 296 bout, a fighter like Ian Garry can’t catch a break from the fans, thanks to a spark by ‘Tarzan’ that turned into a wildfire. Did Strickland contribute to Garry’s pullout?

Strickland and Ian Garry’s ongoing beef

Sean Strickland started by calling Garry’s wife a “succubus” because of their large age gap and her book ‘How To Be a WAG’. He accused her of fooling the young Irishman into a relationship for her own gain. And rumors about her ex-husband working for the couple did not help. However, this wasn’t the reason he dropped out.

Ian Garry was diagnosed with flu, which eventually turned into pneumonia. More tragically, his child was diagnosed with similar symptoms at the time and was rushed into the ER. With his health being a problem, it’s impossible for him to fight. It’s nearly impossible to fight back the trolls, too.
