Dana White is best friends with Tom Brady and it’s no secret. White always gets excited at any opportunity to meet the American football legend. Brady even owns a little part of the UFC. So interactions between him and the UFC are rather normal now.

Brady is now a retired quarterback of the New England Patriots. His run was legendary by all means and White wanting to be close to him is no surprise. Who wouldn’t? In fact, recently, Brady ran into none other than the featherweight champion of the world, Alexander Volkanovski. And Dana White couldn’t be happier.

A meeting of two GOATs

Alexander Volkanovski is often considered the GOAT of the featherweight division. He has reigned supreme in the division for over 3 years. And now, he looks forward to continuing his reign by taking down Illia Topuria at UFC 298. In the meantime, he’s having fun passing the ball around with Tom Brady.

He met the NFL legend in Australia. Brady is currently on his two-stop Australia tour and came in touch with ‘The Great’ during his Melbourne show. The two shook hands and Brady sent down a ball for Volkanovski to catch as he went through the audience.

A proud Dana White would later take to his Instagram stories to share the moment. It was a re-share of Tom Brady’s story that was captioned “Volk’s Got Game!!!”. And of course, Brady didn’t forget to tag his best friend, Dana White, and fellow UFC insider, Sean Shelby.

“See, there’s part of me that says, I can’t make it that easy, because they’re going to go back and be like, ‘That was easy, I caught a pass,’” Brady said about Volkanovski catching the pass. “So sometimes I like to make it a little hard. But not for him, because I love him! You’ve got to go right down the middle.” Either way, Volkanovski could have caught the pass, thanks to his own experience in Australian Rugby.

Now that his bout with that sport is over, will his next prove to be his most demanding one yet?

Volkanovski’s toughest challenge in a while

In the featherweight division, Volkanovski last faced Yair Rodriguez and won via a knockout at UFC 290. Since then, the only fearsome opponent he’s met inside the cage has been Islam Makhachev who defeated him at lightweight twice keeping him from ever becoming a double champ.

However, now, he has to face Topuria, a striker as sharp as a blade. Illia Topuria could give ‘The Great’ a run for his money for certain. But that’s not all, Volkanovski’s last loss really hurt him emotionally and mentally. Being knocked out in the first round at UFC 294 is certainly not something that helps the mental game.

So will he face his greatest threat yet with an even greater mental resilience? Time will be the judge. Meanwhile, perhaps Dana White could think of a new match for ‘The Great’ in the aftermath of UFC 298.
