There are a lot of rumors and speculations surrounding the UFC return date of Conor McGregor. Moreover, there were recent claims that the former UFC double champion would be making his comeback at UFC 300. However, UFC CEO Dana White dismissed those rumors during the post-fight press conference of UFC 295.

Conor McGregor called out a lot of fighters during his time away from the Octagon. He would name countless fighters, hinting that he might fight them when he returns. However, the Irishman seems to be set to take on Michael Chandler, which was Dana White’s initial plan. However, there is no update as to when the fight will take place. Let’s see what the UFC CEO had to say.

Dana White dismissed rumors of Conor McGregor making his comeback at UFC 300

UFC 295 showcased some tremendous fights. Every fight on the main card ended with a knockout and saw the crowning of two champions, Tom Aspinall and Alex Pereira. However, many were more interested in knowing about Conor McGregor’s return date. Dana White was hit with questions regarding that matter at the post-fight press conference. A reporter mentioned that MMA reporter ‘The Schmo’ stated that his sources claimed that McGregor would return at UFC 300. But the UFC head honcho did not seem to give a positive response to that rumor.

“If The Schmo said [then] it must be true,” Dana White joked as he addressed the rumor. Meanwhile, he mentioned that Conor McGregor was waiting for his opportunity to come back. The Irishman is very eager to return to what he does best. White added, “He [Conor McGregor] is definitely chomping at the bit to fight again.” However, White stated that the date is yet to be fixed for the Irishman’s comeback fight. “There is no date,” said the UFC CEO added. However, McGregor earlier stated that the UFC could surprise him with another opponent.

‘The Notorious’ is willing to fight anybody

Conor McGregor recently shared a tweet. There, he stated that the UFC matchmakers could surprise him with another opponent and the date of his return without communicating it to him. However, the Irishman claimed that he had no problems with that. McGregor would continue to prepare for any opponent put in front of him because he believes he has to compete in that fight without questioning the UFC brass.

“I promise the ufc would never even have announce to me who I am fighting, they could do a surprise announcement out of nowhere, a date, an opponent, completely out of the blue, absolutely anyone, at any time, and I’d be in the gym prepping tactics for it. This is legally binding,” said Conor McGregor. This has raised speculations about whether he’d fight Michael Chandler or not.

Conor McGregor recently submitted his test samples to USADA and enrolled in their testing pool. Hence, it could be a while before we see ‘The Notorious’ fighting inside the Octagon. However, there is still no word on which weight class McGregor will return to. And Now, Dana White clarified that the date for his return is still in the works. We will have to wait for further developments on this front.
